Ok, so I haven’t even checked out yet, but I feel compelled to write a review. I do this because so often, I say I’ll leave a review and forget. I film travel videos for the budget traveler, and this one checks all the boxes. Style, substance, and overall affordability. I almost hesitate to leave a review on this one, because I hate to shine a light on my secret spot. ||But here we go… Nomad is located in the Centro part of Puerto Escondido, on Playa Principal. Its amazing location is smack dab in the middle of the “local” beach with great swimming, food, and vibes. Its location allows for cheaper local restaurants and groceries, all while being walking distance to some of the more tourist beaches. You CANNOT beat this location. ||The accommodation is trendy, clean, comfortable and the vibes are chill and very friendly. Speaking of friendly, what makes this place the absolute best, is the people. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. ||I’ve stayed in many places in Mexico, and even what is supposed to be some of the nicest places, sometimes appear a bit run down. This place truly gives off an authentic Mexican experience, that’s easily digestible for the finicky foreign traveler. With nods to surfing and a slower beach attitude, this place is the best.||The restaurant has skilled cooks, and offers a wide variety of foods, from Poke Bowls, to tacos, to burgers and fries. Not only is the food good, but it’s probably the most reasonably priced on the beach, and the portions are tremendous.||Don’t get lured in by the flash of Zicatella. Do yourself a favor and stay outside of the hustle and bustle and take a quick walk in. You...

Internet doesn’t work, you’re better off buying data.
Dirty bathrooms and most the time no toilet paper.
cockroaches in the rooms. We had to spend our 2nd night sleeping literally outside because I stumbled upon 4 cockroaches before going to sleep, one of them climbed up my girlfriends leg while sleeping.
the staff and owners didn’t seem to even care about the situation and kept insisting in not being able to refund us. They said “only if they can rent the room for the night we cancelled” they’ll maybe refund. I spend 1 hour dealing with the owner in order to get a refund, while he was telling me that THOSE ARE THE STANDARDS IN PUERTO. Bad internet and cockroaches seems to be the standard here (not true, places like Huizilin, Tower Bridge Hostel and Pacific Buddha were amazing).
Unfortunately not a nice experience in the Nomad Hostel.
POSITIVE
it’s nice to chill outside in the common zone, it’s calm and right in front of the beach.
The beds are comfortable and bigger than I thought.
location is good. It’s close enough to the party area but it isn’t loud, also there’s restaurants, supermarket and the beach close by. I’d say 10 mins to La Punta and 10 mins to Carrizalillo...

I spent 2 months traveling in Mexico and Guatemala and slept in a lot of hostels. The Nomad Hostel was one of the biggest disappointments. The pictures are not realistic at all, don't be fooled! I was in the 8-bed dorm:
black mold on the bedroom ceiling: stinks and doesn't give you a good feeling at all
shower and toilet not separated: so when you shower, you get everything wet - the bathroom was always wet and full of sand
bathroom is disgusting
no mirror available
bed linen is worn out and stained
all the equipment including the kitchen is outdated and unstable
it is very noisy around the hostel: Windows do not close completely
are you sensitive to light? You will need sleeping goggles, because the light from the lounge penetrates into the bedroom through the glass built into the wall
it is located directly on the beach, but the beach section is only used by fishermen and is not suitable for swimming
no privacy; beds are not separated from each other
incredibly uncomfortable mattresses
price-performance ratio simply completely unbalanced: I paid 234 pesos per night, but it shouldn't cost more than 90 pesos
As a hotel owner, I would be ashamed to have founded something like this. I would question myself as an entrepreneur and as a person.
