AtlasAdventured highly recommends eating here!
We had a great experience at MOTMOT and came here for brunch but ended up spending the whole day at the hotel.
Ivan was our server and he was awesome. Great customer service and really friendly with our 5 year old daughter.
Everything we ordered was fantastic. But our favorite item was definitely the French Toast. It was the thickest piece of French Toast I have ever seen and how they were able to get it cooked all the way through is still a mystery to us. Perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and soft inside. It was brioche style bread and it was dusted in cinnamon sugar. There was a fresh blueberry compote on top with an eggnog cream sauce that seemed more like a creme anglaise but was tasty nonetheless. The potato quesadilla was also good. Simple but fresh ingredients so it is worth trying too.
The restaurant was clean and not overly hot. Huge open windows to the dining room kept a fresh breeze coming in and the unique art on the walls was a great splash of color. It seemed like a fine dining restaurant but was cheaper than other in the area. We walked from our home in Aldea Zama which is a little risky since you have to walk down a pretty busy 2 lane road with no sidewalks for a portion of it.
The highlight of this place was definitely the Cenote and swimming pool. Not sure if its always open to restaurant guests or if its just because we visited in the shoulder season but after our meal we were able to enjoy the Cenote on the property and the pool where we ordered cocktails and a smoothie. Both were excellent as well. The Cenote had a little seating area and tables along with a ladder to get in and out. The pool had open lounge chairs and a couple concrete surfboard shaped chairs that were built into the shallow area of the pool.
Overall this is a spot you should try but bring a towel and your bathing suit so you can enjoy the other amenities at the resort if you're not a...

Motmot is one of those rare finds that makes you appreciate good design and thoughtful spaces. It's peaceful, architecturally stunning, and incredibly well-conceived - with three distinct areas, a pool, and yes, an actual cenote. This isn't just a restaurant; it's an ecosystem of experiences.
The walls feature impressive art installations that deserve their own visit. There's also Elements, a boutique with eclectic boho-style clothing and accessories that perfectly captures Tulum's artistic spirit. What's brilliant is how they've integrated wellness into the space: you can book therapeutic massages and cutting-edge treatments like immunotherapy and bee venom therapy. It's this holistic approach that sets Motmot apart.
The environmental philosophy here is evident in every detail - from the preservation of the cenote to the sustainable practices throughout. This isn't development that fights nature; it's design that embraces it. As someone who values environmental consciousness, you'll appreciate how Kan Tulum and Motmot represent a new model for responsible development.
Weekends bring live music - sometimes a skilled pianist, other times jazz ensembles that elevate the entire atmosphere. These aren't background performances; they're cultural events worth planning around.
Chef Jesús Ortíz leads the kitchen with a philosophy that mirrors the space itself: Mexican cuisine that's both rooted in tradition and forward-thinking. Each dish reflects careful consideration of flavor, presentation, and sourcing. This is food that respects both palate and planet.
Motmot represents what Tulum should aspire to be sophisticated without pretension, luxurious while remaining connected to nature, and proof that development and environmental stewardship can coexist...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at MotMot, the restaurant is located inside the Kan Tulum Hotel. Making a reservation was so easy, I contacted them via WhatsApp for a last-minute booking, and they were quick and accommodating.
When I arrived, I was immediately struck by the lush, serene atmosphere. The entire space is beautifully designed, making it ideal for photos, and you honestly can’t overdress here because the setting is that stunning. It’s the kind of place where every detail feels special, from the decor to the presentation.
The menu offered a variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options, which was a big plus. I ordered the beetroot, and the flavors were well-balanced and I loved every bite!
For dessert, I went all out with their café churro, which was massive and absolutely delicious, and I couldn’t resist a second dessert, a chocolate-banana crumble that was just as incredible.
The service was lovely and attentive, adding to the overall experience. After dinner, I took a walk around the grounds and checked out the cenote, which was peaceful and so beautiful. It’s a spot you’ll want to spend more time exploring, especially during the day, after seeing the breakfast menu I want to travel back to Mexico just to dine there again!
