Essaouira Youth Hostel and Social Travel — Hotel in Essaouira

Essaouira is absolutely beautiful, a fabulous city, where you are surrounded by history, culture and such friendly people!|My friend and I visited at the end of February and we used this hostel as a base, centrally located and easy to find (if you use Google maps!!!) The medina is a maze and you could walk around for hours not revisiting the same spot!||Simon is the host and was super, nothing was too much trouble. The hostel is clean and pretty, the WiFi is patchy however Simon moved the hub close to our room and it worked well.||We stayed in “The Doors” and while it did indeed have a door the circular window above was missing, we only noticed when a little bird flew in and we couldn’t figure out how! |The room consisted on a WC, which was very tiny and sounded like we may be rocketed into space, everytime we flushed!|The door to the WC was like a saloon bar door so you have to on pretty good terms with your room mate, alto the shower is actually in the room too, there is a shower curtain however that’s all, the bed area has sheer curtains so again you need to not be shy if you stay here.|The shower provides warm water, not at a high temperature so it was a little chilly for my liking and the shower head was acting like it had a prostate issue, spurting out water everywhere but where you need it!||Now the beds were as hard as a mortuary slab and the first night I woke up feeling like I was indeed dead, very stiff (because of the bed) and freezing because of lack of heating, a missing window and drafts.|Simon provided us with extra blankets so we did sleep better, we just used an extra duvet as a mattress topper!||In all its basic but perfect for a cheap stay, Simon was the perfect host and we will definitely be returning to Essaouira, probably not to stay...

We arrived late in Essaouira, desperately looking for a place to spend the night, and came across this accommodation. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.

First, we were left waiting a long time just to be told whether a room was available. When they finally confirmed, the price was 450 MAD, which is extremely high for the quality offered. By then, most hotels were already full, so we didn’t really have a choice.

The room itself was in poor condition: it was full of mold, which is unhealthy for anyone — especially for me as someone with asthma. There was no wardrobe or space to put clothes, the shower water quickly turned cold, and there was nowhere to place toiletries. Even the toilet paper wasn’t new, as it was already opened and insufficient.

On top of that, no breakfast or meals were included. Privacy was also an issue — you could hear everything, and it was impossible to feel comfortable. As it is a riad, one would expect more consideration for guests who want to rest. However, there was loud noise until past midnight, and music playing again in the morning. The curtains were too thin to block light, making it difficult to sleep.

We arrived around 11 PM and left before 10 AM (although checkout was at 11). We simply couldn’t feel at ease.

In my opinion, this place is not suitable for couples or families. At best, it might work for a solo traveler who only needs a last-minute bed to crash in and leave as soon...

Its a cheap and magic beautiful place in the center of old Madina . youth hostel its the first and the most old hostel in Essaouira. Inside of old madina near of market and beach . In the hostel you can enjoy by animation . we have guitarist . every morning.and evenings and nights you can enjoy with different music .and good cheap food. And in the nights we watch movies together so if you have same favorites movies you can share it with us and you can share your experience with us . just open your heart and give your hands you will find us listening to you .and trust me if you want stay in that place trust me again you will stay more nights and more and more. Enjoy my friends and have a good wonderful trip and discover the worlds its so big and life is so short so don't lose your time in the bad things and don't worry about any things life is very very very Short.
