We have stayed in Essaouira many times over the years and stayed in a variety of locations and accommodation. This time we chose the Borg Mogador for budget reasons. The hotel is very reasonably priced. |As we already knew the location we were very happy with the choice although it might not suit everyone. The hotel is located around a 25 min walk from the historic medina and about 10 mins from the beach. It’s in the ‘new town’ which again suited us fine as we enjoy seeing normal life and using the local shops. The hotel is on a fairly busy main road which did not bother us, we enjoyed watching the world go by from our balcony. There is some noise from the road but this didn’t bother us. ||The staff are all amazing, really friendly and welcoming. Can’t praise them all highly enough. Our room at the front of the hotel was adequate for 4 nights stay. Shower room a little small but not a problem. Room and hotel very clean. |A basic breakfast of coffee, juice, pastry, bread and eggs is included in the cost and can be taken at the cafe attached to the hotel. We took our breakfast tray up to the room to eat on the balcony. ||Maids cleaned the room daily to a high standard. ||The cafe is lovely and the staff so friendly. Lovely coffee and great prices. Sports on the tv. ||Really cheap little local shops, takeaways and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Large Carrefour supermarket about 10 mins walk away. Although some distance away from the medina taxis are cheap and plentiful. ||Have already recommended this hotel to friends who also visit often. ||Thank you for a lovely stay, we...
Read moreFrom checking in we were given a warm and friendly welcome with staff that were professional, we were not happy with original room and they sensed this and moved us without question into a room with balcony.||The hotel has lovely decorations and is well apointed hot water a bit hit and miss but fine.||The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble even bringing breakfast or a snack to your room at no extra cost, breakfast was 20 dirham thats about £1.30 for coffee, orange juice ( fresh ), bread, croissant and jams great value and a great way to start the day, rooms cleaned every day with new towels.||Reception staff were helpful even explaining the taxi system 6 dirham fixed fare and making sure we were not ripped off by guides etc.||The hotel is situated 5 mins taxi ride from the beach and is in the residential area visit the local shops small and lots of internet cafes around.||Overall we would return here as we fell in love with Essaouira and at £20.00 per night per room...
Read moreMy Iphone and Ipad were stolen from my room one afternoon whilst I was out surfing for an hour. The staff and I were the only people to have a key to the room. The manager and his receptionist were entirely disinterested in the theft and refused to contact the police. The room was locked and the thief took only my electronic goods of value. They left my cards and passport etc. It seemed like they knew exactly what they wanted and when to let themsleves in and remove my belongings. I spoke to some American Basketball players who were staying at the hotel and they had their watches stolen from their rooms a few days beforehand. There would seem to be a fairly efficient system in place at this establishment. I would be very cautious indeed about staying here. The room itself was perfectly comfortable and breakfast simple but perfectly enjoyable. I was supposed to be staying for 4 nights but left early after I was relieved of...
