Ion Club Essaouira - Surf Kitesurf — Local services in Essaouira

We left a bit disappointed. We booked a multi-hour group surfing class in Essaouira, but it turned out to be a little disorganized and unprofessional. The instructors didn’t help the group at all — they were surfing on their own, not giving any real instruction or assistance but they were really nice and friendly.

One of them just said “follow me” and took off on a wave, but most of us couldn’t catch anything without help. There was no support, no feedback, nothing. Some instructors were even playing volleyball instead of teaching — and since we were doing nothing and getting bored, we ended up joining the game too, instead of actually surfing.

We paid more than we would have for a private lesson and got almost no value.

We had high expectations for this class, but it was a huge letdown — a bad way to end our trip...

I spent 2 weeks in Essaouira improving my kitesurfing after a long break, and only have good experiences and recommendations to share about Ion Club aka Saltwater Elements aka Ocean Vagabond. Was with the club with my family for the last 10 days of the year 2019. We did kitesurf rentals/courses, surf rentals/courses, e-mountain bikes rentals (with guide), and had an absolutely amazing time. Most of the club’s gear are state of the art and in very good conditions (Duotone for the kites). But what really makes the club so outstanding is the team which almost made me think of a second family, so big up (in disorder) to Ayoub, Younes, Martin, Badr, Rachid, Abdelati, Hussain (and I am probably missing a few names). The club restaurant next door is also perfect for the food/beer...
