Unfortunately, our experience with the surf course and accommodation was very disappointing.
Communication on site was almost impossible due to the lack of English skills. We were not informed in advance that payment had to be made in cash upon arrival. We were also told that we could only see the accommodation after paying, which became understandable once we saw the poor condition of the place.
The accommodation did not match the photos shown online: • Dirty bed sheets • Floor was not cleaned, spider webs everywhere, mold in the bathroom • No trash bin • Towels were dirty and torn • Unstable furniture • The shower had no curtain or cabin, so the entire room got wet; the water drain did not work properly • Breakfast only included tea/coffee, white bread, and two eggs
The surf course was equally disappointing. Even though our group was small, we received very few useful tips. The instructor kept asking us what we thought we were doing wrong instead of giving corrections or advice. For about one-third of the session, the instructor was not even in the water.
What was especially unpleasant was that we were pressured to leave a 5-star Google review. After we changed it to an honest 1-star review, several staff members from both the surf course and the accommodation repeatedly asked us to delete or change it back.
Overall, we cannot...
Read moreOur goal for the trip to Morroco was surfing in Essaouira, and the best decision we've made was choosing this surf school.
I can't thank the team enough, they were very welcoming and helpful. Considering it was our first experience in surfing, we did a lot of progress and our instructor, Mustafa. He was always positive, smiling and encouraging.
We stayed in the Salty Essouira villa from this school for a week. The villa was beautiful, especially the terrace. Our host, Amina, was very attentive and nice, not to mention that she is an excellent cook (the traditional breakfast was always delicious and the best start of the day before spending several hours in water). Another lady also took care of us in the villa (unfortunately, I didn't ask her name, but please send her my gratitude for her hosting). It was sometimes a bit chilly at night in December, but considering that we are from London it is not something we are not used to :) consider bringing your pyjamas if you are staying in winter.
The surfshop itself is very nice, has a lot of food options and very positive team. The equipment was good, and the place itself very near the beach so you can easily walk from the shop with the surf.
From now on, doing every workout, I will always remember encouraging Mustafa voice "paddling, paddling!" :) Thank you so much, guys,...
