A beautiful hotel in a great location but staff, although friendly and welcoming, lacked maturity and authority and spoke also most no English. My room, Bab El Mechouar, was very dark and cave like. It had no air flow, so was humid from the bathroom and everything of mine became damp. Worst of all, the room lacked privacy. The room is on the ground floor by the lounge area and office. Since the doors and windows are all glass you are forced to keep the curtains closed all the time but they were very thin so when you turn the light on (which you had to because it was so dark) everyone could see you. And by everyone I mean the staff mostly, who spent a lot of their time sitting around on the chairs outside the room. I felt invaded as the boundary between us was virtually non existent. I did not enjoy relaxing in my room as I would have liked. The room on the terrace had reflective glass so perhaps this could be used on the ground floor too. |On a general note, with it being a riad sound travels a lot so I did not feel able to leave my room/walk about when I woke early for fear of waking people. This is no one’s fault but was made my stay harder as I didn’t enjoy my room and would have liked to have escaped to the terrace early in the morning when everyone...
Read moreWe had a disappointing experience. My wife is pregnant, and we clearly requested a room on the lower floors to avoid climbing many stairs. The request was seen but completely ignored.
The shower was dirty and the room was not properly cleaned.
Our room was located directly above the dining area. From 07:00 every morning, staff were making a lot of noise setting up breakfast, and guests started arriving early, even though we were told breakfast only begins at 08:30. It was very hard to rest.
The room is not as shown in the pictures. To reach the toilet you have to pass through a low, narrow passage, and there is no door for the toilet. The shower door opens straight to the hallway and the dining area, which is very uncomfortable and lacks privacy.
In addition, to enter the riad you have to walk through a dark, unpleasant alley, which feels unsafe at night.
Overall, the price is too high for what you get. Definitely...
Read moreAs the photos show, this property is impeccable. There's a little running water feature in the main floor seating area where you are immediately served tea and cookies. Each room has a charming unique layout and very cozy. The bath towels were thick, soft and smelled wonderful. The two level rooftop area for a full delicious breakfast and viewing of the entire town and lounging were most impressive. Host and staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Highly recommend this choice location in a quiet alley right off one of the main entrances to the walled medina. Very close to the ocean view rampart area. Loved this place so much as our first genuine Moroccan...
