I strongly advise travellers to avoid this hotel, no matter how cheap it seems. It is absolutely not value for money.
Firstly, the photos online are misleading and do not accurately reflect the room you are given. The hotel advertises free Wi-Fi, yet there is none available in the rooms—this is simply false advertising. There is also no room service, and towels are in short supply. When we requested an extra towel, the staff were rude—expecting two people to share one towel is unacceptable.
The cleanliness of the room was appalling. The floor was sticky, dirty, and outdated. Even more concerning, the balcony door had no lock, meaning anyone could access your belongings. Shockingly, the main room door also could not be locked, posing a serious safety risk for guests leaving valuables such as jewellery, money, and passports behind.
The bathroom facilities were equally terrible. The water in both the sink and shower did not function properly. The taps only produced scalding hot water, making it impossible to have a comfortable shower. When I raised this issue with the receptionist, I was initially promised a room change, only for them to later refuse—yet another false promise. The toilet was just as problematic, with the lid constantly falling down while in use, which was both unhygienic and unpleasant. The sliding bathroom door was faulty, falling off its hinges whenever we tried to open or close it. This meant a complete lack of privacy, forcing anyone sharing the room to endure unwanted smells.
The overall experience was made worse by the hotel’s dreadful insulation. You can clearly hear people using the toilet in the neighbouring rooms, and every time a door is closed, the noise is so loud it disturbs your sleep. The hallways are dark and eerie after sunset, adding to the unsettling atmosphere. Additionally, the hotel is located on a main road, where motorbikes race throughout the night, making it nearly impossible to get a good night’s rest.
Having travelled to 11 countries in the past year for both leisure and business, I can confidently say this was THE worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The only redeeming factor is that there are supermarkets and restaurants nearby. However, this does not make up for the many serious issues with this hotel. Do yourself a favour and...
Read moreI recently stayed at El Hamra Hotel , and it was a deeply disappointing experience. Unfortunately, the issues I encountered made my stay far from enjoyable.
Broken Shower and Air Conditioner One of the biggest issues was the broken shower. The water pressure was inconsistent, and the temperature fluctuated between scalding hot and freezing cold without warning. It was incredibly frustrating and made showering a very uncomfortable experience. Additionally, the air conditioner in the room was not working. It barely cooled the room, and given the hot weather, this made the room feel stuffy and unbearable.
Dirty Beds and Bedding The cleanliness of the room was also a major concern. The bedsheets appeared dirty, and there were visible stains on the bedding. It was clear that they hadn't been properly cleaned or changed. This lack of attention to hygiene made it difficult to feel comfortable and safe in the room.
Insects To top it all off, there were insects in the room. I spotted a few bugs crawling around, which was both unpleasant and alarming. It's unacceptable for a hotel to have such a pest problem, and it further added to the feeling of discomfort during my stay.
Conclusion Overall, my stay at El Hamra Hotel was far from satisfactory. The broken shower and air conditioner, combined with dirty beds and the presence of insects, made for a very unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and hope that the management takes serious steps to address...
