Excellent largely on account of its staff and its location.
I am a repeat customer. Recently, I had d good fortune to be in Maputo again for work, and stay at d Radisson Blu( 6-14 Nov.)
It was like going home! I was v happy to meet d staff wt whom I had become friends d last time around…
Apart from a not- so- pleasant- encounter while registering, it was a very pleasant stay. The unpleasant experiences: during check- in, a rather dismissive attitude by d counter clerk, wh I was to learn much later, was only due to a misunderstanding on d part of d hotel, and similarly, a misunderstanding that left me waiting for my hotel shuttle upon arrival( amply forgiven though), and a rather odd situation, where I needed an umbrella to go to the eatery ( just outside d hotel premises), but was told that, there were no umbrellas that a guest could avail of, n subsequently to be told that, umbrellas are only for d use of movement w/ in d hotel premises! So, on my next trip, I will pack my umbrella if I am to stay at this hotel!
The hotel is ideally located and very well kept and clean. Aside fm this, to me, it is d staff that would make me think twice of staying elsewhere. The hotel’s staff whom I know fm both visits are exemplary and a real asset to it. It is them who give d Radisson d competitive edge. Take them away, and we will have d brick and mortar only.
It is difficult to name each one of the staff. But, it would be remiss of me not to specifically mention some of them. They are- front office/ reception: Ms Stella de Carmen( wt her warm smile snd always willing to help solve a problem); Ms Marlene Parruque - a small bundle wt lots of enthusiasm; Ms Ilda, wt her very warm greeting; Mr Antoine( who never seems to go home- and is always available, respectfully to hear out and try and resolve one’s issues), and last but not least, 2 others: Mr Andrew( porter/ driver), and Mr Armando Simbane( concierge).
It was Mr Andrew who, I will say I am very indebted too, as he was the one who had spotted me at the Maputo aeroport looking desperately for the airport shuttle driver. Mr Andrew was not there to pick me up but to drop off some hotel guests- and it was only by chance that he had spotted me, and recognized me, and greeted me! I would not have been able to recognize him! He saved me from unscrupulous drivers and touts.
Mr Armando gives one the feeling of having arrived in Aladdin’s world! He reminds me of the Gini in d fabled Aladdin and the Magic Lamp. A very courteous gentleman wt an infectious smile and laugh, he is ever willing to step up to solve one’s thorny issue.
The staff at d breakfast lounge are certainly an asset to the Raddison Blu as well. Staff like Ms Emilia Bahule( intern), Ms Uiesla, Ms Victoria, Ms Marcia and Ms Noema. As it was Ms Emilia’s last days as an intern, I hope that she has been employed by d hotel. A diminutive and quiet young lady, she went about her tasks pouring coffee and cleaning tables methodically and a constant...
Read moreI have been staying here in Radisson Blu Residance for about 2 month and more. I am very satified with all the circumstance here including service, reception, facilities like gym, swimming pool, breakfast restaurant, elevator, room condition, maintenance, room cleaning, door keeping guys, security, kitchen supplies like dishwasher, oven, electric range, washing machine, mixer, electric fan, fork, nife, cup, glass, dish, bowl, spoon, knife, vaious kind/size of bowls... I have never experienced these amount quantities of kitchen supplies ever.
The most satisfied thing was breakfast. Some people is saying that this hotel is providing simple breakfast, but these kinds of food are very enough as breakfast and very suitable. All the food are very clean, high quality, well managed, well cooked, fresh, delicious, globalized, constant quality.
They are serving various kinds of coffee, omelet which are very popular.
Last 2 month, I have visited this restaurant every single day for breakfast. One day morning I saw one man and woman sitting in the table. It seemed like that day was the woman's birthday. Soon many of the staff was going to the table and surrounded and singing a song. Even though it was not my birthday, but I also was so happy to see the hapiness and blessing from all the staffs.
Staff are very kind and most of them can comunicate well with the customers. Even I have ever seen one of the complain from the customer, but the staff kept being kind and listened to the customer's complain. I remember 3 of the staff's name who are almost every greeting to me. Last week, Marcia Boa served me with special coffee with some letters "Bom dia" on top of the coffee, when I looked very tired. Thanks Noemia Landamela also for greeting me with smiling every every single morning. Thanks also Uisla Uamusse for preaparing my bill in advance considering I'm very busy in the morning. Especially Uisla helped me a lot to be comfortable here from the initial stage.
Sorry for the other staff not for remembering all of your names. I also thank you all the members here for providing us with not only good food but also good...
Read moreThis was not a good experience, and my expectation was for a Radisson that served as the major business hotel in Maputo, they would be pretty professional put in a request for an airport pickup in their own system, was not confirmed or followed up on First room provided smelled like cigarette smoke, but the reception did quickly change it Room needed repairs, like one of the closet doors was completely broken and couldn’t be moved, lamps out, hand shower holder broken. The room design is UGLY. This basic white bath tub dumped next to the bed is weird even in modern design. The shower and toilet are also in these new age frosted glass non locking door cabins. Can’t say anything good about the quality of bedding or towels, either. The restaurant is in another building below the residences so you have to walk over. Between one dinner where they never brought my drink orders or one of my dishes, to breakfast where you also have to ask multiple people so you can ensure one of them gets your coffee, was not too great, even if the food is decent. Nobody seems to communicate with one another) Laundry - played a game of cat and mouse trying to figure out what happened to mine with nobody picking up. Eventually found out they were holding it because reception didn’t take a card when I checked in, but I had to apparently force this information out of them? This was more fun when the restaurant had to chase me down as well. NOISE - beach club across the street was in full club mode…could hear the DJ and bass loud and clear through…the…entire…night on a Wednesday night of all days. thump thump thump and vibrations all night, could not get any sleep at all and I live in a busy city area at home!!!
I can honestly be pretty easy going and forgiving, but this property just stacked bad upon bad upon bad. Hopefully another major brand will open some...
