Sagres — Restaurant in Maputo

What a disappointment, toilets are soooo small with 3 toilet paper holders in each toilet, highlighting the space problem even further. We waited nearly 2 hours for the food which then arrived in take away holders because obviously the waiter did not understand. I am sure that these waiters are trying their best to give good survive and in return receive a equally good tip.... Sadly our waiter went for at least 40 min without checking if we needed anything to drink. If he did his job, he would have noticed our time waiting for food. No no no, I will definitely send my hard earned cash better for the remainder of this trip. Have to add the food was exactly cooked to my liking, so no complaints there. Management, train your staff, you are after all serving...

What a lovely surprise! We decided to drive through Maputo on our way down to Ponta and struggled to find somewhere nice to eat lunch that was looking over the water. So we kept driving until we found Sagres! It was exactly what we were after. The seafood platters were a great introduction to Mozambique (loved the fish, vegetables were fresh and chips were real potato - couldn't say no!). Sits right on the beach, where our kids could happily go play as we enjoyed a refreshing sangria and the staff were lovely and attentive. Fantastic sea food with a view of Maputo beach

The food is really good, the sea food in particular. I'd suggest trying the camarões grelhados (grilled prawns) and the pão de aio com queijo (cheese and garlic bread). The amêijoas (clams) are delicious too.

--- Facilities ---

There is a guarded small car park in front of the restaurant. You'll have the possibility to eat inside, or outside in a covered terrace. In front of said terrace starts the beach.

The staff is nice and are used to foreigners. Communicating shouldn't be a problem.
