Horrible night experience on the 4th floor in the early hours of Friday, January 17, 2020
I stayed in the hotel from 13 - 18 January 2020. I traveled to Maputo with work and was booked in room 475. In the early morning hours of January 17th between 03:00 - 04:00, I heard a noise on my door which woke me up. It sounded like someone was kicking the door to try to force themselves in. I decided to move closer to the door to investigate and heard noises of at least 2 people talking to each other, and they were speaking in Portuguese. I asked them what they wanted and told them they are at the wrong room. They kept kicking the door and trying to open with something that sounded like a metal object being used for the door. I realized that my life was in danger and called the reception immediately.
The person on duty sent a security guard to my room to investigate but upon his arrival, we couldnāt communicate properly because he canāt speak English and I donāt speak Portuguese so I decided not to open. I then called reception again for them to come up to my room and investigate the corridors.
The staff came, knocked on my door and ID himself then I opened. I asked the staff if he saw anything on security cameras and he told me that it is only the manager to see what goes on in the cameras and he would only start work at 08:00 that morning. He told me that he did not find anyone on the corridor and left. I tried to go back to sleep but I was too terrified.
In the morning, no one followed up with me so I decided to see the manager around 13:00 and he told me that he was aware of the incident and they were investigating. I was later told that there are no cameras on the side my room was located. The hotel did not suggest to move me to a different room, I had to insist to be moved. I am very disappointed with how they treated the whole matter of security issue. I hope it doesnāt happen to anyone else but I will be reluctant to stay in that hotel again because of that one night experience. Unless I am absolutely sure that the security has been enhanced. Currently, any person can access the hotel and that is a big security risk taken by the hotel. I left the hotel without knowing what really happened that early morning.

The accomodations were clean and comfortable and located right on the beach with a great view.|The restaurant is located on the ground floor and weather permitting, which was nearly every day, open to the pool area with outside seating. The food was excellent, kudos to the chef and his staff for putting on a great spread every day, all day.|The overall hotel service was outstanding. |The ladies at the front desk Lidia, Leia and Patricia, and my main man Mercio at the concierge were terrific. They were most helpful with anything we needed for vehicles, currency exchange, information, etc. Special thanks to Rose for helping us book transport and tours. |Very special thanks goes to Ivone, the banquet manager, Lisa, the conference manager, and all their staff for being incredibly supportive and accomodating to the many changes we had to make for the seminar. Fast, agile, and friendly, they were the best, we lacked for nothing. |Lastly, hats off to the management team; Mark, the General Manager and John, his Deputy. They were extremely gracious and as excellence begins at the top, after meeting them it was no surprise the hotel is so outstanding. Gentlemen, thank you for a truly great stay....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe hotel is nice but the restaurant and food service needs a lot of work. As I was here over the new year there was not much open so I had to eat at the hotel. The sandwiches are fine but the other food leaves much to be desired.
I had their line fish of the day which was Spanish Mackerel but it tasted and felt like I was chewing an old shoe. I stuck my fork in it and was able to pick it up and wave it around without it falling apart... And this after ordering twice and waiting close to an hour for my food. I sent it back and the chef came out, at first he was more insulted than anything else and said it's the quality of the fish and that was how it was supposed to be... You're on the coast, get and serve vetted fish please. Eventually he offered me the buffet but at this point I just wanted to get back to my room where I ordered a burger.
The next say I tried the pizza which came out cold.
They could also offer some fresh fruit juice or ice tea instead of everything out of a bottle or a can.
If not for the food I'd give them 4 stars.
Other issues around the hotel; My bed frame is broken and I fear the bed will collapse The shower does not drain The did not take my laundry yesterday and when they finally did they promised it would be back by the extra morning but it's 6pm and...
