Our original first floor room was small, and dingy with a view of a hovel from the window and a dirty looking bathroom. The second room they gave us was even worse with a cubicle style shower and toilet.||In contrast, our new room was large and clean with a sitting area and coffee table. Think it was a suite, actually, but certainly worth the upgrade. A large bathroom with shower over the bath and four windows. A huge difference.||All done with a smile.||A great roof terrace bar on the sixth floor with fantastic views over Mandalay, serving cocktails, drinks and food. Read moreAfter having stayed hear already some years ago we returned to the hotel as we had it in good memory. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. The teakwood floors once looked nice but now the place is worn and would need some renovation. The bathroom was run down and buying new towels wouldn’t be a mistake. The rooms to the street are very noisy. The breakfast was mostly asian and only bread, toast and a few cereals and eggs made to order for westerners. Staff is always very friendly and helpful but english is not understood very well. Other guests we saw were only Chinese yelling through the hallway.
