I stayed in a superior room which cost me 85 USD per night including buffet breakfast. This is a mid-range hotel on Yangon’s scale of things. The staff is very nice and attentive to guests, always smiling and on hand to help with requests and enquiries. My room was clean and tidy, it had an AC and a king size bed with clean linen and comfortable pillows. There were a tele and a minibar in the room as well. The bathroom had both a bath and a shower. The room would be cleaned every day, toiletries and linen on the bed replaced. A diverse buffet breakfast was served every morning: there was a big board with Asian breakfast choices as well as a small table with fried eggs, toasts and coffee. It was definitely worth the money I paid. Hotels in Yangon are expensive, sometimes you pay more than you would in London, therefore Holiday was a good find. ||||A couple of cons: ||1 - Sound insulation is poor, you would head other guests returning at night. If you have sleeping problems, consider the noise factor. ||2 – The hotel does not accept US dollars if they do not look perfectly mint. I would not put it as criticism of the hotel though. You will not be able to pay with USD’s of bad condition anywhere in Myanmar. Only mint banknotes are excepted even at...
Read moreWe stayed for nearly a night at the Holiday Hotel in Yangon, Myanmar in May 2014. On our way from Hanoi to Bagan, we had to spend a night here before catching our plane to Bagan the next day. Upon arriving in Yangon, the hotel does not offer transportation from the airport so we took a taxi for about $10 USD. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the airport. Staff was friendly as the hotel is family owned. Since we left very early the next morning (around 4am) we were not able to experience the breakfast but complimentary water in the room was nice. Rooms are a bit small but clean and with A/C and TV. Elevator functions well. The rooms are otherwise basic. We found the price of hotels in Yangon expensive (over $100) but in our case we didn't have too much of a choice unless we slept at the airport. All in all, Holiday Hotel met our needs for a...
Read moreThe room itself isn’t bad. But the blankets are just arranged randomly. In a double room, there’s only one pair of slippers. Bathroom supplies are also only enough for one person, so I always have to ask for more. There’s no hot-and-cold water machine. The wardrobe shelves can’t even be rotated/adjusted. There’s no electric kettle in the room either. When I asked for one, the kettle they gave was quite dirty with stains. And when I boil water with it, the water runs dry instantly without even boiling. There’s no dryer provided either. When I requested one, they gave it to me but I barely got to use it before they came back and took it away, saying another room needed it. So the dryer has to be shared between rooms....
