The Round House — Restaurant in Yangon

Let's see, the good things first. The restaurant has a great design. It's very Instagrammable. The location is fantastic with an amazing view of the lake+ the stairs to the restaurant are beautifully decorated with lights. It's perfect for a date night. The price is mid to high range for Myanmar. Not as high as a fine dining establishment but still higher prices than other similar places.

Now, to the bad. I am a vegetarian. I've spent a considerable amount of time in Myanmar and I know that most Burmese (and other Myanmar ethnic cuisine) dishes can be customized to suit the needs of a vegetarian. I'm easy to satisfy and don't make a fuss when there aren't enough vegetarian-ish dishes on the menu. But boy was I in for shock here!?

My friend/co-worker had been hyping about this place for a while and I was really excited to get lunch here. I ordered the vegetarian King oyster mushroom, beans and tofu skin stir fry and it was the least delicious dish I've tasted in all of Myanmar. It felt like it was prepared by someone who hates tasty food with all their heart. It was not salted and it didn't have any spice, it tasted like they fried the veggies and the mushrooms in the blandest starchy brown sauce possible. It's Asia for Christ's sakes! Bland Asian dishes are unheard of!

I was truly impressed with my experience here. The food was absolutely delicious-every dish was carefully prepared using high-quality ingredients, exceeding my expectations in terms of taste. Additionally, the service was outstanding; the staff was friendly, attentive, and highly professional.

First time for me at The round house. I love this place. Nice atmosphere clean and cool, lot of big tree besides the Kandawkyi lake. Our lunch looks healthy and delicious with refreshing drink.They recommend spring rolls, it was so nice. Fresh veggies crispy with homemade sauce. Fried rice with smoked fish is another highly recommend. And their special salad with fresh pea leaf fresh crab meat Shan Avocado. Masala and mala cook with river prawn.
