We arrived to Hotel Kan Kaw in a bit of a sorry state (getting totally lost in Yangon and spent the precious night in a hotel waaaay out of town that kep losing electricity and gearing up a generator all night)! We were looking for somewhere clean, fairly modern and with working electricity!||||The staff at reception were wonderful and agreed to a discount for us. They then upgraded us to the suite which was even more impressive!||||The suite had a bedroom with double bed and a single with working cable TV (BBC, CNN etc), minibar, good wifi connection etc. There was also a lounge area which, whilst not exactly luxury, was fine for us when we fancied sitting for a drink together, and there was also a dressing table which I really made use of!||||The bathroom was more of a wet room with an open shower, many toiletries and also a jacuzzi bath that lit up different colours! There was, however, a strange smell in the bathroom - as if the smell of food waste from the restaurant downstairs was attempting to reach us via the ventilation. ||||There was a big construction project going on next door with workers making noise from quite early in the morning which did effect our sleep. Only hotel I stay in Yangon …that has nice wallpaper n serves good range of japanese buffet breakfast. You may get a taxi easily @2000-3000 kyat (chiat) within town areas. Beware of dirty wild dogs that roam around the street. Since I dont really fancy going pagodas, I like shopping at Aungsan mkt n walking around St Mary's Cathedral n Strand hotel (colonialbuildings).|Yangon is really a much safer n friendlier city than any other neighboring countries. BEWARE.look to your left right left many times before u cross the roads. Must try the early morning street hawkers burmese soup noodles with some crackers, I like it.Indian Yoghurt at...
Read moreThis is a serviceable, adequate hotel. Its nothing spectacular, but there's also nothing wrong with it. If you are just looking for a good home-base, in a relatively convenient part of town, this is fine. If you're looking for something special, this probably isn't the place. Rooms are small, but fine. A bit run-down, but not unpleasant. Staff is friendly. Easy to get a taxi to go out to any part...
