Hotel Royal King — Hotel in Yangon

Rooms were good except for the ants I found near the coffee and tea refreshments upon check-in. Water does not have a heater. ||||I had the misfortune of speaking in English to the reception over the and I was immediately investigated. Room service came and told me that image to pay additional 30k for being a foreigner. I replied in local language to convince that I am a Burmese national. The room service boy continued to speak to me as if I am a criminal and insisted I have to pay. He then apparently reported it to reception.||||I went out for dinner and upon coming back the receptionist shouted at me and my cousin and asked for identification documents. I have been warned to not give my Burmese passport because my mum did that and they cooked up some excuses to say that because she don't have local documents she still must pay 30k. You read correctly, mum mum a Burmese national was asked to pay 30k for being a foreigner. ||||There are many good hotels in other parts of Yangon. The only good thing was the room was ok, I don't mind the ants. No other interesting building or supermarket nearby. There are some food restaurants nearby but I suggest you don't eat cos I saw a waiter blow his nose with fingers and then took some onions with his fingers to serve as side dish to my cousin. My dinner was prepared with bare hands and all thebfood arrangements on my plate was purely done by hand. On and they do pour back excess sauce left behind by customers...

A Giant Nest of Cockroaches!!! and bedbugs.

This hotel is just disgusting and horrible. I ordered fried rice from the room service. I was showering when they delivered the plate. I put it on the table hoping to enjoy after shower. Do you know what I found after the shower? There cockroaches are enjoying my fried rice. Out of disgust, I tried to move the plate away, three other cockroaches came out of the rice. My bf called the housekeeping and asked them to deal with this issue. They came and sprayed insect killers, but the cockroaches became more spread and seemed that the insect killers just made them upset.

There were cockroaches in the minibar, in the drawers, in the bathroom, over the countertops, on the headrest, and even in the bed, everywhere.

The staff offered to change rooms and we accepted just because it was past the time of the marshal law. We had to stay careful and didn’t touch anything in the other room just not to upset another nest of cockroaches.

Plus, when the room was being spray with the insect killers, we waited in the lobby. We sat on the couch in the lobby. There, I was bitten by bedbugs on the back and on the legs. You can see the bites on my back in the photo.

Guess what? We got no apology, no refund for the food, no refund for the room, not a single kind of treatment that shows that they’re sorry like this happens always to them.

It is relatively cheap and close to cargo shipping terminal. Reception staff are very friendly and helpful. The young man from reception has even helped me to replace my oversea sin card inside my Iphone. Noise from busy road were well protected with sound proof windows.||||The room and door handles look new and shining. Possibly that hotel has been renovated back in 2016. Bath room shower is impressive and have to turn on lower tap and then pull off the shower tap for having shower.|||| Breakfast was awful and very limited. One Incompetent kitchen staff has broken many glasses while he was transferring from tray to cabinet. If I am employer I will demand him to improve the concentration. Many guests have to walk carefully for avoiding broken glasses on the floor.|||| It has more modernized fresh good looking building compare with Grace Treasure hotel nearby. However broken glasses accident and awful breakfast has ruined overall experience. It is comfortable and reasonable for budget travelers. At the end, I prefer to pay extra bucks for getting decent buffet breakfast and larger rooms.||||It is more suitable for long term visitors. For short term travelers, they should concern more about comfort, imaginary royal king life style...
