The hotel proudly bares its one-star rating on a plaque at the front desk. It is a budget hotel, often used by local organisations to host out-of-towners who are attending workshops or training programs. Overall it was clean enough and somewhere to lay your head at night, but no real atmosphere and I did not feel like spending any time at the hotel (in my room or elsewhere). There are other hotels nearby that are better value.||||The room was clean, with a kettle and fridge, wifi in the rooms was ok (I found I could stream audio late at night). The staff were reasonably friendly. ||||I had a room on one side of the hotel and could see Shewdagon Pagoda if I strained my neck out the window. It was not too noisy - rooms at the front might be louder. We lost power several times, although this is par for the course in many parts of Yangon.||||The restaurant is in the basement, food is ok, but nothing special. Breakfast was actually not bad, I thought the Burmese food was quite tasty and there was always fresh fruit. ||||I just found myself desperate for better light (rooms quite dark, basement restaurant has no windows) or somewhere to sit (the lobby is also in the basement). Even though I tried to explain that my friend and I would need to discuss something because my friend will be bringing me around Yangon, however the staff just told us off. ||Next day, my friend helped me to carry some stuff up to my room and the staff was extremely rude to tell me only 5 mins is allowed for my friend to be in my room because no guest is allowed for single room. My friend left within 5 mins, but the staff called my room after 15 mins and said in a very sarcastic tone "5 mins is over." I was really pissed off with the staff's attitude. It totally ruined my experience...
Read moreThis is a very basic hotel that has what you need and a little more. Clean rooms, clean linens, functional AC, small refrigerator, and comfortable beds. ||Staff is very helpful with directions, taxis, and shopping questions.||Breakfast each morning is relatively unchanging, but adequate to fill you up, esp if you like rice, noodles, and fresh fruit.||It is one of the closest hotels to the Shwe Dagon Pagoda, only a 10 minute walk up the hill to the pagoda AND some great new restaurants right across the street from the pagoda.||Internet is free and available in the rooms, but their connection speed is very slow. Email OK, but forget streaming. Downloading a movie...
