Hotel Vista — Hotel in Yangon

It's often hard to find a place to stay in a big city at a reasonable price. Hotel Vista offers a clean, compact room in a good location with helpful staff at a good price. We stayed here for 3 nights with our kids and had 2 rooms. ||There's free WIFI, toiletries in the bathroom (very small and does get all wet when you have a shower, but that's often how it is in Myanmar), and breakfast is included in the price. The buffet breakfast (served on level 8) has fruit, juice, curry, rice, eggs etc. The rooms are serviced each day.||We enjoyed having a drink at the hotel rooftop bar, which has good views over the city (yes you can see the Shwedagon Pagoda). There's a happy hour with deals for cocktails and beer. Unfortunately the food we ordered was not the best, but we may just have been unlucky.||The hotel is well located to visit the sites. This hotel was hugely disappointing for the money. I arrived late at night, they could not find my booking, there were insects all over reception. There is a bar on the roof and 2 people came from there as I was checking in. The lift was round the corner from reception and when I went round to go to my room, someone had been sick outside the lift and it was left. The air con was awful. It hardly made the room cold when it was working and for the majority of the night it went off almost every hour and you need to get up to sort the trip switch. I asked the hotel for a fan instead and they could not provide one. The bathroom is a wet room, but the shower is right by the door, so once it is use you can’t get back into the bathroom without paddling through water. The room is a bit larger than what you usually get at this price, and it’s fairly clean. The hotel is right in the city center, which is convenient, but parking can be a bit tricky. Even though it’s next to a main road, the soundproofing is surprisingly good, so it’s not too noisy. There is a smart TV inside the room.

Breakfast is okay but could be better — there aren’t many options, and the strawberry jam tastes quite cheap.

The staff are really friendly and attentive. If you haven’t gone down for breakfast by a certain time, they’ll even call to ask if you’d like it delivered to your room, which is a nice touch. One of the highlights is the café downstairs — guests get a free welcome drink, and the coffee there is quite good.
