Chitwan Riverside Resort — Hotel in Ratnanagar

We absolutely loved this place and they managed to give us a glimpse of a tiger! Rooms were nice and we enjoyed the clean pool. But especially amazing were the location and the service. This place has a lot of different places to relax outside and watch the other shore (were the national park is located), we spotted a big herd of deer there one night - you can chill on a swing in the sun, on lounge chairs in the shade or whereever else you prefer. The service was incredible, everyone cared for us as if we were their family. We also booked all our tours and our bus to Pokhara through the front desk and they were super helpful.

For our whole day jungle trek they got us the best guide ever, Krishna. He is very experienced, spoke great english, knew just about everything and was super friendly. Make sure to ask for him, when you book your tour. We got within 10 meters of a rhino walking through the park, quite the experience. Krishna was also very reliable and handled all animal situations amazingly. We felt very safe and also like the impact on the animals was kept close to zero and like respect towards animals and nature was priority. The second day we went for a jeep tour and managed to get a good look at a tiger up close!

The location of the resort is on the river so the views are amazing. The sunsets were stunning. The green spaces on the property were lush and full of flower. Pool was nice but quite dirty water. Price was affordable but there are other options at this level. Restaurant area was run down and staff were not reactive nor paying attention. The manager was friendly and very helpful. Unfortunately he was the only reliable person on the resort. If you didn’t get the information through him, nothing would happen. He helped us with transportation to the tourist bus stop (at an extra cost) but the driver got lost on the way there. Luckily we made it to our bus… We felt there was so much unexploited potential at this premium location on the river. A refresh of the restaurant/ better staff and refurbished bathrooms would already be a great improvement. Consider this option if you’re travelling...
