Had a light dinner of cabbage soup and a hamburger. Soup was fresh and lovely. A proper thick consistency as would be expected. Served with thick slice of fresh toasted bread. The hamburger was one of the best I have had in all my travels. The tomato, greens and pickles were fresh as can be. The meat patty was cooked to perfection. If I have to be hypercritical, the glazed bun bordered on being too crispy and was difficult to cut and bite into. The staff is friendly and attentive and pricing is reasonable. The fact that the background music was beautiful oldies from the 80's, was a bonus. All round , worth a visit.

Estivemos em ago/2022… Bem localizado (próximo a uma das entradas do Vondelpak). Como chegamos tarde, após o horário de fechamento da cozinha, já não era possível pedir nada para comer. Para nossa sorte, nesta noite, o responsável pela cozinha era o brasileiríssimo e simpático Percival que, mesmo já tendo encerrado seu expediente e estando de saída, generosamente solicitou que nos preparassem uma porção dos tradicionais Bitterballens holandeses. Não bastasse essa empatia, Percival dedicou quase uma hora de seu tempo conosco, contando-nos sua história na Holanda, nos dando dicas de pontos a visitar e ainda nos presenteou com uma cervejinha. Ou seja, graças ao excepcional atendimento do Percival, o que poderia ter sido um ‘perrengue’ foi transformado em uma experiência surpreendentemente agradável e inesquecível ! Parabéns ao Café Schinkelhaven por ter esse tipo de colaborador em seus quadros… Grande figura esse Percival !!!

Delicious!! Yummy and affordable. For the first time we had mustard soup and warm bread for starters. Yummy. The service was pleasant and efficient. A very warm and inviting place. Tables inside and out. Gay friendly.

Schinkelhaven is a great place to eat and have drinks with your friends. They have a great variety of Craftbeers and their dishes match great with the beers that they are serving. The staff is very passionate about the flavours as well and they can advise you very well. In summer they have a great spot on the terrace where you can watch all the cyclist battle their way through one of the busiest and most dangerous cycling spots...

I had a bad experience from a staff there. I live in Amsterdam for 4 years. and yes, I look like an asian, i went to have a good time with my colleagues and as a longtime party goer, I drink. and of course as a customer who asked politely and in a nice way. I requested something for my order to the tall girl who manages the bar side. and she was like “ what do you want?!” “what?!” and turned around so rude....
