We were doing a short break to replenish our stocks of beer, wine and food from the Netherlands and France. Our research identified the newly refurbished Rivers Hotel and what a find it was.||The restaurant was re-opened three years ago but the hotel refurbishment was completed just in January 2017. So everything is very modern. Like many small hotels in the Netherlands, space is at a premium so that means smaller shower rooms and bedrooms and narrow, steep stairs. Do not let that put you off, it is all part of the charm of the place and the hotel itself. Space is perfectly adequate, the rooms well appointed and just a little care will get you up the stairs.||Once there the room is very comfortable, clean and thoughtfully presented. The views from all the windows are simply charming; looking out across the canal. As the rooms enjoy the tun in the afternoon, there are electric roller blinds to keep the room coo land at night they allow you to have the windows open without the risk of mosquitoes penetrating their fine mesh.||A good comprehensive continental breakfast is served in the restaurant.||We will certainly return for a...
Read moreWe were 4 and stayed at the Rivers overnight on Friday 26th May.|When we arrived the terrace of the Hotel/Restaurant was heaving with people enjoying food and drinks in the sunshine on the terrace overlooking the canal.|I was received at reception with courteousy and kindness whilst stressing about parking somewhere, but was quickly sorted and advised.|We settled into our 2 very modern, spotlessly clean and well stocked rooms overlooking the canal.|We ate a hearty dinner on the terrace and by 20:00 all of the street became peace and tranquility as last servings were at 19:30. We decided to sit outside of this Restaurant and enjoy the Spring Sunshine.||||It was clean and the Service was excellent. The Waitress who||took our drinks order was pleasant and helpful, also patient with our lack of Dutch. The Waiter who took our food order was fantastic, helpful, cheerful and really showed an interest in what we had been doing and then after our meal wanted to know how we had enjoyed our food, which we said had been brilliant, he said he would pass our compliments to the Chef.
