Avon Motel — Hotel in North Island

My overall experience was good, with night being quiet and all. However the lack some hotel amenities in a a down side, for example the lack of air-conditioning is a odd as it has come to be expected. And as this in motel not a hotel you do not get things like airport shuttle's, buffet breakfast or restaurants. And in this day and age with government's smoke free by 2025 you would think the all motels and hotels in the country would be smoke free but no this one is not. Also the lack of a pool and pet-friendless is a downfall. They are LGBTQIA+ friendly though. And to top it all off the mattress was one of the hardest the I have slept on. I highly recommend this motel as a regular customer. It is on the South Road between Whanganui and New Plymouth , and close by to the Hawera city center. I need to sit whilst showering with a damaged back and their showers cater for this , plus my often arriving at very late hrs. The motel is super clean, and everything works. When they know I am coming I find a wonderful continental breakfast awaits me and I can look forward to a good nights rest. My grateful thanks Avon Staff and my best wishes , T V Rogers...

Loved staying here in May 2024. Perfect location - close to the event venue we came for. Quiet and sheltered. We were the only ones, at the event we came for, who slept well and it was because this motel was sheltered from the high winds in Hawera over that weekend! Motel units were lovely and clean (we booked two). The beds were comfortable - very important to us for my husbands back. Real milk in the fridge. Highly recommend this motel.
