My nearly 80yr mother was there in the week just gone and I’m shocked at how she was treated. Yes, things break but she told staff she was terminal with cancer and was cold because the heat pump was broken. They already knew it was broken and it was in the books for repair. She was told a heater was in the cupboard but it turned out to be two fans . She went to get help again and had to wait 20 min before someone finally came to the desk. By this time she was really cold and was after help, an electrician was called but couldn’t figure out what was wrong but lent my Mum a heater he happened to have in his Ute !! She also noticed one other car in the car park but didn’t bother asking to be moved as she doesn’t complain. Thankfully she’s home and resting but was very worried about catching pneumonia as she didn’t want to die for that. No mention of a discount or money back! She was even woken very early by the one other there at 6.15 packing the car and talking loudly. So…. Take your own heater or extra blanket if you stay here. Sad as the owner who left on holiday Mum...
Read moreA trip back in time in a retro style motel. The drive curves through a garden to the office in an old house, and there is an exit past the units to another street out the back. We were able to park outside the unit with plenty of room to unload our luggage. The motel is well maintained, clean, and fresh. The rooms have retained the old style motel fittings - stainless steel kitchen bench and shower tray. The breakfast bar had a Formica top. The kitchen was well equipped; a bench top oven with hot plates, and a microwave. There are plenty of utensils in the kitchen drawer. A large couch and an extra chair make viewing TV comfortable. Fluffy towels and a face cloth, liquid handwash at the basin, and liquid bodywash in the shower make the guest comfortable. Good storage in the bathroom cupboard and a long windowsill to balance toiletries on for the shower. A Venetian blind on the bedroom window blocks out the light well. A wooden unit for resting a suitcase on is provided, and a bedside table. A happy, comfortable...

Nicely located to both the town and the Matamata-TeAroha cycle trail , which was the our reason for our stay in Matamata. Booked directly with the motelier who was very helpful, and entertaining and gave us a great tip on where to dine in Matamata, newly opened Sofra Meditteranean| restaurant , will do another review separately. The motel is nicely distanced from the main highway, iwas probably built in the 70's , inter tenancy masonry block walls off that area. We had a studio- generously and very comfy bed, with comfy soft|pillows, good air con, all ya needs for a one nite stopver and being no.9 fairly quiet. After a long and warm ride was nice to come back and have a dip in the pool. We both njoyed our stay here and big ups to our| wonderful host Fiona. So if ya doing the trail and need a nice and comfy stay - try...
