Sofra Restaurant — Restaurant in North Island

Not usually one to complain but tonight was just disastrous. Being valentines, we were prepared for a longer wait, and a busy restaurant. We waited almost 2 hours for our food, and everyone who had arrived after us were served their meals long before us. The manager said that they had lost our docket???These things do happen but the manager should have remedied this in the correct way. When we spoke to the manager, he rudely said he couldn’t take anything off our bill and offered a free drink. I am from Hospo management myself, and this situation could have been handled in a much more professional and easier way! I currently work in tourism and send people to this restaurant daily as I only had good things to say about it and highly recommended it. Not sure I’ll continue to do this. In addition to this, once we finally got our food, our steak was almost blue, when it was ordered to be medium rare. Not a great experience overall. On a more positive note, Jamie and Maylin? (not sure how to spell her name) were absolute rockstars, and were the only good thing we will take away from this experience. We dined in a group of 5 adults last night and absolutely loved it. The service was exceptional without being over the top. The food was absolutely stunning, from not exactly wanting to choose between so many amazing options we all chose our meal. Each one of us chose either a lamb, beef or pork dish and all were very nice! I tasted two different meals and they were both amazing! The flavours were an excellent Mediterranean flavour with seasonal vegetables to compliment. If there was one thing I would say is the pork was slightly overdone (why I never choose pork) and the lamb dishes, potentially could have been cooked less, leaving a lovely pink centre but apart from that, we all went away very happy with our choice of eating places. Such an amazing experience we had here couple days back. Located on the main highway through the town with ample parking spots nearby.

We were a group of six adults and one kid, here for lunch. Ordered a mains, a side and a drink for each. Fries and chicken for the three year old. The chicken for our kid was grilled with minimum oil, but absolutely tender and fresh. Fries were crunchy as well. Among drinks, Mojito was so refreshing. And there was another one named "Turkish ......" (sorry can't recall the full name), but it had tequilla and strawberry juice in it (check the pics below); that was pretty good as well.

All the items in main course were pretty fresh and good, with generous sized portions of meat in each. The one with Lamb, and the vegetarian one with halloumi was worth mentioning. And if possible, pls try out their bread with Baba Ghanoush...
