Thai Royal Restaurant matamata — Restaurant in Waikato

We visited this Thai restaurant for my husband’s birthday and were very disappointed. The service was very poor and slow—upon arrival, no one attended us for several minutes We ordered a $33 roast duck, expecting more duck, but it was mostly vegetables with just two small pieces of duck. The chicken soup, which was $18, had more mushrooms than chicken. The Tom Yum soup was fine but didn’t justify the $18 price tag. The waitress didn’t check on us at all, and we felt completely ignored. After spending $56, we were still hungry. Definitely not worth the money, and we would not recommend...

We ordered the bbq beef and prawns wonton soup. They gave us the beef stir-fried with cashew nuts and pork wonton soup. Steamed rice came out really dry and old, seems like yesterday's rice. The beef was dry and tough. Terrible food.

We told them they gave us the wrong food and the lady owner argued with us and also said they ran out of prawns after we told them this is not prawn wontons.

Why didn't they tell us they don't have it when we ordered? Don't give customers whatever is left in...

We went for dinner there staff was alright plenty of seating. I took my friends out to dinner as a thank you to them. We ordered entree and three different dishes. The chicken in the entree was so bad it was overcooked. Our mains were so small and you had to order rice seperate. My crispy pork was like leather terrible.
