A Great last minute stay here!

Booked a room at the Harrington's Motor Lodge only 10mins before I arrived. I usually stay up the road, but the last minute room rate here was really good. The lovely lady at Reception hadn't quite seen my booking come through, so she rushed around getting my room organized. Proper Fresh Milk offered, none of those horrid UHT pottles to be seen.

Parking was available directly outside the rooms. My room was just one of their basic studios. They were nothing flash, but all the fundamentals were excellent. Comfy Beds, Clean, and warm. Huge TV with the 50+ Sky TV Channels. Small Kitchenette with all the stuff you'd need to cook a small meal/breakfast. Bathroom had a wet area shower, which unfortunately had pretty shocking pressure.

I had feared when I arrived, that this place may have been being used as an Emergency Housing Facility. There were a couple of shady people hanging around outside their rooms, and old beaten up cars. After a terrible experience the night before in a Motel that was an EH Facility, I was really nervous. However, the shady people outside were extremely quiet and respectful. So hopefully this place is not a EH Facility.

My few gripes would be the shocking shower pressure. The lack of Power Sockets by the bed for the charging of phones and the likes. And not the Motels fault, but Turning right out of the Motel onto Fitzherbert Street can be very hard at times, and some massive patience is needed.

So all in all, the Harrington's Motor Lodge is an extremely decent, comfortable, clean and affordable place to spend the night. The owners/manager are very friendly people. This place offers excellent value for money. Would...

I really wanted to like this place. Our stay was okay/average throughout the actual stay, but it was the end that really disappointed us. We stayed in the room 4, a 2 bedroom apartment, I had my two young children with me. The rooms had most everything you would need and no more. Bare, but adequate. However at the end, I checked out (hung the key up as noone was at the office) at 8am, and went across to the esplanade playground. At 9.15am I remembered that I had forgot to clean out the fridge. I had left an unopened bottle of wine, another barely touched bottle of wine. A barely used big Charlie's orange juice, and a full bag of green grapes. Items that are expensive and we're very clearly hardly used. I called as soon as I remembered, however they had already cleared the room including the fridge. They had put everything into the rubbish except for the unopened bottle of wine. I have to emphasize just how unused all of the other stuff was. Well, they had kept the unopened bottle of wine and binned everything else in that short time. With no call to double check. But they kept the wine...without calling me to let know, so they very obviously kept it for themselves. This kind of behavior and lack of service really dents a place like this. It would have taken 1 minute to call and confirm if it was rubbish or not. And it just doesn't sit well that they instead thought to bin perfectly good food (a lot of it, all fresh expensive items) and keep the unopened wine for themselves. it speaks volumes about the morals and intentions of those running this business.

I won't be staying again sadly, and I don't recommend purely based on the very...

The excellent service makes the world of difference to me! From their prompt replies on Agoda messages to the smooth check in and finally easy checkout, every interaction with them was wonderful!! Room is serviced daily unless you request not to. It is also located opposite the Victoria Esplanade and a stone’s throw from the Manawatu River. Beautiful environment!!! City Square is 5 minutes drive away. To add to their qualities, there were welcome chocolates on the bed and full range of quality amenities provided too. It’s definitely value for money. I will definitely book this place again if I need accommodation In Palmerston North. The only set back is wifi is neither strong nor stable.

From the very friendly welcome to checking out, was a nice experience. Yes,you can always find fault with tired paint and vinyl floors, but all was a good high standard of cleanliness. A real bottle of milk (rather than the little long life ones) and a large TV if you have time for it. Bed nice and comfy. Soft. Linen and towels of very good quality. Bathroom accessories of high quality. Over the road from the Victoria Esplanade for nice walks. Definitely our new place to stay when in Palmerston North.
