I have always had to have a private bathroom when traveling, but a few months after booking the room, about a week before my trip, the hotel told me that they could not provide me with a room with a private bathroom because the facilities were destroyed by floods! They offer two plans, the first is free cancellation, and the second is a refund of the price difference. Free cancellation is impossible because I originally ordered a non-refundable plan, and it is difficult for me to make another trip when my trip is coming. I went to book other accommodation, so I had to choose to refund the price difference. The counter told me that the refund would be refunded by BOOKING, but I never received it. I kept contacting BOOKING about the refund, but it was never resolved, so I had to write directly. I contacted the hotel and the reply I got was that I have to call them to provide information, or I have to provide the card number and card date. How can I provide this information in the booking chat conversation? I am responsible for the fraud and it is impossible to contact me by phone to provide information. The cost of making international calls will exceed the refund amount. I provide them with my bank account number and ask them to remit money directly. They told me that they can't do that. Then Why didn't you just refund the price difference in cash? The money is not much, it’s just a matter of perception, because I still see the same room type being sold on Booking.com, and I’m wondering if you gave the room I ordered to someone else, so I have to stay in a room with a shared bathroom. As a result, I couldn't take a shower at all that day, so I had to check into another hotel the next day to...
Read moreAfter a long journey from Queenstown, I couldn't wait to check-in to the hostel. The best part was that the bus stopped just in front of the YHA hostel. It's a very beautiful hostel with the mountain and forest backdrop. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The day I landed was raining so had to spend the evening in the hostel itself. I was in a 6 bed mixed room. The room was clean. It had two heaters too which kept the room warm. The shower rooms, bathrooms were clean. There's a drying room as well and due to the number of clothes in there, the clothes dint dry. I found the kitchen to be a little smaller compared to the other hostels i stayed. Unfortunately there was just one microwave. My only call out is that there were frequent power cuts and this affected the toasters and the microwave. Begin a vegetarian, I cook/make my own food and with these two machines without power, it was really hard. I had to wait a really long time which is pretty frustrating especially if you are so hungry. There can be better ventilating in the kitchen as it gets pretty stuffy. You have free wifi with 2 GB as the limit. If you want some peace and quite, just head into the TV room. They also have an outside sitting area to have your food which is really beautiful if you have clear skies. With the exception of the power cut, I really liked this place and would recommend to stay here. #safe4solowomen...
Read moreThis hostel has the potential to be amazing. The kitchen is big and well equipped, rooms where modern, showers were good and clean. But unfortunately I won’t stay here again after being shouted at by a member of staff for something I didn’t do, he also stormed into my dorm without knocking. There is a bit more background to the story but I still think the way he handled the situation was incredibly rude and unprofessional. The hostel was also freezing cold. They have a fire but it can’t warm up such a large social area. Me and my friends huddled by the fire to keep warm. Staff only have access to the controls and the same staff member as before just came along and turned it off for no reason but to be spiteful. He always acted like he was high and mighty. So yeah sadly not the best experience here and won’t...
