The Mackenzie Apartments — Hotel in South Island

This place turned out to be the best place we stayed on our trip around the lakes. The views of Lake Tekapo from the rooms and the balcony were amazing! We couldn’t get enough of the views. The apartment is located on a very quiet back street, just a short distance from the town center, part way up a hill, easy enough to walk 10min down to the restaurants. Our 2-bedroom apartment was amazing – spacious, luxurious, and bright. The place was spotlessly clean and well-maintained. We had a full kitchen, 2 living areas and 2 bedrooms/bathrooms – and a garage as well. We appreciated the washer/dryer in the garage. We loved the electronic kiosk set up with all the information we needed about the apartment and the local area. My husband and I loved the apartment, and the warm friendly greeting we received...resulting in a couple of smaller bottles of red being consumed. The location, the views, the modern beautifully appointed facilities, including a cozy fireplace, and the lovely finer details such as candles, all made the experience of staying at the suite such a memorable one . Not only would my husband and I highly recommend staying at the Mackenzie Apartments, but we would also recommend heading down the road to the local horse riding facility and head out over the mountains on a truly spectacular horse ride. Unfortunately we got the bottom apartment and dog tired after a long day at Mt Cook tried to get our head down around 10pm. We found this impossible due to noise from the upstairs apartment. There does not seem to be any sound proofing between the floors so you can virtually hear any conversation, showering and tv noise and the upstairs must have a lot of hard floors as furniture movements, walking etc is amplified greatly to the point you wonder if someone is going to fall thru the ceiling.
