The Mohua Motels team understand the complete customer experience. My positive experience started with the check-in. Nirmul and Catherine (I hope I spelled their names correctly) worked to ensure I had the quiet room I requested. Next, there was a last check before I entered the room to ensure it met the motel standards. Then there was the offer to help me with my bags. How many motels does that happen at? The room was spotless, everything was up to date, a firm mattress and even an ethernet cable. I loved the plunger coffee, the bottle of fresh milk and the hot chocolate. I was treated like a family member - the kind of family that is totally helpful without being intrusive. The motel is just a short walk from a large FreshChoice supermarket and multiple very good restaurants. Tip for ice cream lovers - try the ice cream at Golden Fresh Fruit Ice Cream on the main road! Highly recommend this motel for others. You deserve this type of attention and standards while traveling. Added bonus was the lovely sunset I witnessed from the...
Read moreThis motel was very nice to stay at. We were greeted by friendly owners of the motel and then given our room keys. The rooms are modern and clean. Everything you want when you anticipate a motel room. From the kitchenette to the bathrooms to surfaces, everything was spick and span.
*Note, the pics taken of the room were taken after we packed up and room wasn't cleaned. The room was perfect upon arrival.
Depending on which room you get (they may all have this), because of its location, you are treated with rural views across paddocks. Outside, there's a sizable patio with plenty of seating.
The road noise was fairly high, but we were in the very end room closest to the road. You get somewhat used to it.
The room has a heat pump that heats or cools the room quickly if required, and the shower has great pressure.
Would stay there again, and probably request a different room, but it was fully booked, so it shows how...
Read moreLovely clean and spacious motel, the only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is due to noise, we were set quite far back from the road but due to this motel being right by the start of town you get trucks driving past all night, we were also woken by another guest very early in the morning letting their vehicle run idle for a good 15 minutes and then also a few cows having a good moo (I don't really mind the cows but after the other noise and then cows on top I had given up all hope of getting back to sleep)
I also thought the price was a little steep, I do get there are not many options in Takaka but it was off-season and for the price/location it didn't really feel like value for money.
The staff were all lovely and helpful and the room was really nice, I think we would stay again but ear plugs might be...
