I feel qualified to be rating this place. I’ve eaten here three times this week and each time I’ve been shocked by the awful service. My first experience, we order two pizzas for take away. After being told it’d be 45 minutes before I could collect I arrive and rushed my food home. It was cold.. the both pizzas didn’t even have cheese on, which we definitely asked for.. I called and complained. The manager advised we’d be given a voucher as compensation which I thought was worthy of her. To our surprise a couple of days later our family invited us for dinner at this same place. We were a large group of 15 people. The staff seem stressed out to begin with. Most of the pizzas we ordered had incorrect toppings and many of them not having cheese on them. At the end of the meal I introduced myself to the manager whom apologies and gives us a $50 voucher. In all honesty I had no intention of even using the voucher as the food really isn’t very nice. My partner convinced me we should use the voucher on our last day in takaka.. we arrived to the busy restaurant and ordered our food. The salad was pretty good, I enjoyed it. The chips that they literally get from the chip shop next door were also pretty good.. when our pizzas arrived my pizza only had salmon on it but I ordered a seafood pizza which contains pawns, muscles and salmon. I explained to the waitress this is definitely not my pizza as it’s only got salmon on it. She insisted it was the sea food pizza.. after starting to each this food another waitress came to the table with my seafood pizza (to my surprise the toppings were correct) then we discovered my partners pizza had chicken on it and they had given us the wrong order completely. They took the first pizzas away and now left us with the actual pizzas we ordered.. to be totally honest this is awful food. It’s really not very nice. The base was hard and dry, the flavouring was very strong. Definitely one of the worst tasting pizzas I’ve had. I should’ve known better after our first two meals.. the waitress asked if the food was ok and I advised her it’s pretty bad to be honest. It’s not that tasty at all. She apologies. To finish off my rant, my sister in law had ordered food with her friends. When there meal arrived the waitress told her that she had a pizza with vegan cheese on it.. but it wasn’t the waitress gave her a pizza with real cheese on it.. how awful that the staff don’t even know the difference between what cheese is what.. it’s very obvious the difference and I’ve only had three meals there.. to give someone with dietary requirements the wrong pizza is disgusting. Then the waitress brought her the correct pizza.. Overall this place gets -5 stars from me. Awful food, far to over priced for the quality. And what restaurant runs next door to get there chips.. have some pride in your own food and let your chefs make all the food.. change your menu so it’s easy for your wait staff to understand. Have a better system for ordering because it’s clear there is much confusion when people order.. three meals, three wrong meals/mistakes with our orders and not once satisfied.. Avoid with a passion.. diabolical.!!! —— Responding to restaurants reply Firstly my orders were extremely simple, I only asked to add vegan cheese to my pizza. That was all. This was made really clear to the wait staff. Secondly I only came to this place three times because I was given a voucher ( I was hoping you would’ve made an effort and redeemed yourselves ) I was only grumpy and moody with your staff on my last visit as I felt it was a total joke. And on a final note. Your telling complete lies. I was given the wrong pizza and I told the wait staff that it’s definitely incorrect and she insisted it was what I had ordered. I couldn’t be bothered to say anything as your restaurant is already an embarrassment. Take my review how you’d like. But personally I’d probably take some of my review as advise. I was with a group of 20 plus people and very few of my family had nice things to say. Requesting vegan cheese instead of...

Couldnt even tell you if the food was ok because we were reluctant to even eat it after how we were treated by a staff member here..I have never come across such a rude individual. We sat down and waited over an hr for one pizza. When checking with the waiter how much longer our wait was going to be (which we as customers have the right to ask) we were rudly spoken to and told pizzas are a 25min wait, well a 25min wait is fine we were there for over an hr which we informed this staff member. Then we got hit in rude manner with another snarky reply that a massive table had ordered before us and to be patient. Waiting after a large table was obviously fine but if we were to be waiting for over an hr to receive one pizza we should have been informed that our wait was going to be long instead of getting angry at us for asking. We had then asked for our pizza to be put in a takeaway box, after being so rudly spoken to we were not comfortable eating there which we were then attacked verbally again for asking for a takeaway box. And when paying for our pizza we had a bit of trouble with swiping one of our cards and it wasn't reading, we were then laughed at by this staff member and asked if our card was even real...like are you serious?, yes the card is real..surly this girl can't be for real. Our experience was that bad I am annoyed that I even have to give this place a one star rating just to rate...

I was having a dinner with my daughter. We were undecided which pizza 🍕 to choose and the staff said we can order half and half. Hooray! We ordered a large Salmon Anatoki and Southern Style Pizza. The ingredients used on these thin base pizzas are fresh and organic. The salmon pizza 🍕 is quite cheesy 🧀 and smoky with spinach leaves underneath those cream cheese 🧀, and capers fillings. The southern style cajun chicken pieces are slightly charred topped with sour cream and cranberry sauce.

Overall, it was a good experience from this cafĂ©/ restaurant 🍮. There is plenty of seating area. There is plenty of offsite parking 🅿. They accept cash and EFTPOS including credit card payments (Paywave payments are not available, for those who want to know). Would I go back? Yes 😀. The rating will change - either going up 👆 or down 👇. I'll review it again in future 🔼 when I go back for the second time.

Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Nicely balanced and not too spicy. The pizza 🍕 was delicious 😋 and to die for. Price: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Reasonably priced. Customer service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Friendly staff.

Disclaimer: Please note that this review is entirely based on my personal experience at the time of the visit (28th August 2020). You might have a different experience than me and also, the food may or may...

The ambience of the restaurant and cafe is just amazing. The small terrace in the front is great for sunny days to enjoy Takaka vibe. The food is extraordinary , pizzas are just delicious and the food that you just can grab for breakfast , coffee are really good. The art pieces from a local artist are insane. If you want a great experience while on Takaka, go to The dangerous Kitchen. Staff is really friendly and always taking care of the customers. Amazing experience

We were excited to try their pizza. We order the large Popeyes Plus and golden fries. The service was friendly but the food requires some improvement. The fries were delivered from the fish and chips next door which were amazing. We could have ordered them directly if we knew. The pizza toppings were super tasty but the base was hard and tasted like cardboard. We liked the location and the atmosphere even with the below-average pizza.

Wasn't expecting to find this place during my journey through NZ and can definitely appreciate why others refer to this place as a "Gem". Friendly staff, quick service and HEARTY vegan options. Definitely one of the best breakfasts I've had during my vacation. The space is beautifully decorated and well lit. My only gripe was with the cost of a cup of tea - but comes with the territory I guess! Would definitely eat here again.
