(Reposting my review as it deleted by accident). Much to my surprise due to the reviews, I felt really unsafe staying at this hostel. Reading the reviews, I was expecting a phenomenal hostel. However, I had the opposite experience - I was genuinely scared. Firstly, the description is inaccurate - there is no AC (as is advertised on the google page), no pool onsite (you have to pay 2USD to enter, as it's a seperate facility... however it is extremely closeby), and really no check-in process. It is a decent 15 minute drive out of David, but the area is nice and green. I booked and paid for a bed in a 4-person room, but instead was in a 6-person room. It was unbearably humid/hot and impossible to get a good night's sleep. This place was not worth how much I paid. Above all, as a solo female traveller, I felt unsafe. However, I was really lucky to meet other amazing travellers, who shared my same concerns. Roger described the property as a "safe haven for women", but I just couldn't disagree more. I felt that the host acted inappropriately multiple times during my stay. The horrible gut feeling I had whilst there forced me to leave a day earlier than planned. I seriously advise not to stay here - especially as a solo...
Read moreWorst deal in central America so far. Hot water not working. Wifi doesn't reach the rooms. No window to outside, so it's smells damp inside. Sink is leaking. Water on floor stays there forever. The check-in procedure is true some horrible website. They charged extra hidden tax costs at checkout. Pool was not usable. Lot of repairs need to bedone everywhere.
Owner kept making weird remarks to my girl. Met her before in another life and kept hitting on her. He even entered the room unannounced when I wasn't there.
Generally the place has a bad atmosphere. The only good thing is the kitchen which is decent.
The place literally around the corner is much better and is 25 USD instead of 33 USD. But I would recommend driving a little bit further into town and go to Doraz. Cheaper, much better vibe and better...
Read moreIf you practice mindfulness and want to meet likeminded travelers, this may be the place for you! I’m a solo female traveler and I felt very safe. The host, Roger is thoughtful and kind. He pays attention to the small things that matter. He is fluent in several languages, including English. There’s a well on the property so there’s water in spite of drought conditions in the area. The bathroom was clean and I was invited to share dinner yesterday, along with other travelers. Roger drove me into town to purchase things I needed and he purchased 2 huge bags of ice when he noticed that I liked my beverage with Lots of ice! He pays attention to the...
