Hostal Familiar Rolo — Hotel in Hicaco

I am sorry to write this review. But we were super dissapointed of this hostel. We stayed here for 2 nights - payed 130$ for a room with „air control“ and a own bathroom. There was no window in this room, so beginning at 3pm till 3am there was music so loud as in a club- we couldn’t really sleep one hour. At least 4 lizzards and some cocktoachs in the room. The air control was damaged. And on the second night, the cleaning lady had locked the bathroom so when we came back from diving we had to wait one hour that somebody comes to unlock it.

We went to the son of the owner of this hostel, and asked for some discount or anything for all of this, considering 65$ per night is a super high price in comparison to other hostels and hotels in this town. He didn‘t even try to say sorry, nor the owner thought it was appropriate to come and apologize. The answer to our question if they think this is a fair treatment of paying guests, the son just looked at his phone and said he can’t anything.

We are travelling for two months now, mostly staying at hostels but never experienced such an unpolite team!

Definitely the first time to give 0/5 stars, for unpolite, uncaring people who know they make really good many with offering rooms that are...

We had a great time in Santa Catalina at Rolos Cabins. We had a nice, clean room with two single beds and a fan. The property is very nice with a lot of flowers and well maintained. Rolo and his wife were nice but they don't really speak English so we managed everything with their son. Also there is no ATM in Santa Catalina and no wifi at Rolos. We were told that you can get cash at the supermarket but we tried a few times and the lady always said that she didn't have enough cash. ||The Hostel is in the main part of Santa Catalina but the beach that is right next to the hostel had a lot of plastic waste. One day conditions for surfing were good on that beach, another day we walked to the surf camp (20 min walk, 10$ for half day rental) and rented a board there since conditions were better on that beach. This beach was very clean and big! ||We did a tour to Coiba which was great! We saw many turtles, a little reef shark and millions of colorful fish as well as dolphins on the way...
