Our family stayed at the airport hotel a couple of times during our recent trip to Lima, and couldn’t be more frustrated with their airport shuttle pick-up service. On our first stay, we took the shuttle to the airport and when we got off we asked how to find the van when we returned. The driver motioned to the same area that we got off from so that seemed fine. Note that the all-white van does not have hotel markings on it so it blends in with all of the other vans. So, when we returned to the Lima airport a few days later, we went out to the area that we were dropped off at and started waiting and watching for the van, like we had previously been told to do. After about 15 minutes of waiting, we called the hotel shuttle service and told them we were waiting for a pickup and they said they would send someone soon. We waited for another 15 minutes but no shuttle. We called the hotel back and they said that we should be waiting in space 668, so we moved to that area and waited for another 15 minutes but still no shuttle. We then called back and a manager said that they would be bringing the shuttle and we told her where we were waiting and what we looked like and waited again. After another 15 minutes of waiting and still no shuttle, we called back again and they now told us to go to a counter inside the airport and ask them for help. This was after waiting for more than an hour (and talking to the shuttle agent several times), so I went inside to the 668 counter and asked them how to catch the shuttle and they said they could not help. I had the hotel shuttle on the phone so I asked the counter clerk to talk to the hotel to help coordinate but they said that they would not. As I was still talking to the shuttle agent another person at the counter who had overheard our conversation said she would try to help, but my son then came in to tell me that they had somehow connected with the shuttle outside. So, after more than an hour of waiting, multiple calls and much frustration, we finally got on the shuttle for the short ride to the airport. I relayed our frustration to the shuttle driver and she quietly apologized. When we arrived at the hotel, I complained to the desk clerk about the process and especially that the original shuttle driver had told us to wait at the place we got off when that was not the case, and who said nothing about needing to check in at a counter inside the airport. I told the desk clerk to let a manager know about the process and he said they would. The clerk was more interested in telling us how, as an IHG rewards member, we were entitled to so many hotel perks than acknowledging the shuttle service's problems, which was quite annoying. When we checked out later that same night, I again mentioned our frustration to the desk clerk, and he politely acknowledged our concern but that was the end of it. No manager ever contacted us or apologized for the problem so I’m certain this will happen to other future guests, so be forewarned. You’ll probably be much better off and less frustrated by paying a small sum to a tax service to ensure that you get to the hotel much less...
Read moreOn 29FEB2020, I was overnighting in CochabambaBOLIVIÀ when my wife contacted me to advise that the USA had raised its threat level to “3”. After strong recommendations, I made immediate plans to return home (ElPasoTX-USA) as quickly as possible, which means flying by jet airplane. I had already made reservations at another close by hotel a month in the future, but now could not stay there as it was booked full.
I am SO GLAD to be able to reserve at this HOLIDAY INN-LIMA! I Gimpwalked the short distance from the international airport, and was joyously welcomed by not only the front desk/reception, but all HI personnel were happy to see me.
Unfortunately my hands were full and I was fumbling a bit with the key card to engage the elevator, but fortunately, staff rushed over to help me; tremendously great! The 6th floor room was staggeringly wonderful; after I inserted the key car into the slot, turning on the lights & ac, I fell onto the lovely firm bed and rested, exhausted from too little sleep since the fateful 29FEB contact. This was essential as I was due to return to LIM within three hours to confirm next day AeroMexico flights to MEX CJS. However, my #1 son & his wife were able to secure the needed ticket for me, thus alleviating the need for me to return to the crowded airport. THANK GOODNESS!
Now I could focus on truly recuperation, and considered many of the aspects available to all clients in this amazing hotel. In fact, I was torn between enjoying the swim pool or the hot tub or the weight room...; I ultimately decided nutrition was the most important item to be addressed and enjoyed an incredible meal surpassed only by the superior service from RICARDO! Now that the essentials (delicious food & final air ticket) were taken care of, I felt very relaxed and strolled about the Callao neighborhood, very much wanting to have a local trim of my excessively bushy beard and regretting my lack of sufficient funds (regardless how inexpensive the cost; I was pretty much living on my VISA debit & credit cards by now, which are certainly accepted at this fantastic hotel!), but needed to get back to my luxurious room for a good night’s sleep—tomorrow would be the longest leg of my return journey.
The following morning, I enjoyed an incredible brekkie, with an assortment of dishes I’d rarely seen available anywhere. Not wanting to discriminate, I sampled a bit of everything, which certainly gave me the energy needed for the long day ahead. I greatly appreciated the shuttle service to the nearby international airport, with dropoff at the entrance/checkin.
All in all, this HOLIDAY INN LIMA-AIRPORT is a fabulously excellent/welcoming/friendly place to stay, especially if you have an early flight from LIM! I highly recommend staying here, and it certainly gets my enthusiastic “iWheel...
Read moreI traveled solo; I booked because it was 4 stars and 1 minute away from the airport. I initially booked from Aug 22-27 which is 5 nights. After completing my itinerary, I decided it was best to stay the night of the 27th so I could be rented for the last leg of my vacation. I emailed their reservation team who was prompt with their responses. At the front desk on arrival, the lady who checked me in was very rude. I explained to her that I spoke to reservations and that I am booking 2 additional nights - the 27th - 28th and 31st - 1st. Alondro rolled her eyes and called someone and then confirmed my reservations. She didn’t even want to collect payment - I insisted that she charged my card. Got to the room and it was clean. It looked like the pictures online.
The guest service young man Daniel, was extremely helpful. The young lady Kelly from room service was the friendliest staff at the hotel.
On my second day, I told housekeeping my bathroom shower water was not running out. She cleared it but it still backed up. Went to the desk and told the same lady who checked me in and she didn’t do anything. It wasn’t until in the night when I went to exchange dollars for soles that the manager was there. When I told her, she offered me a room change which I accepted.
On the 27th, when I was sleeping, my room phone rang and it was someone asking me if I wanted a late check out because check out is at 12 and I am supposed to leave. Confused and half asleep, I told him that I had booked the extra night on arrival and he then said they always call the rooms everyday to ask this question. Now, if you’ve traveled or even stayed anywhere, they only ask that question when they have you due to check out. I sent a message to the WhatsApp number for the guest services asking for the manager to call - no one ever called me. I called the desk asking to speak to the manager on duty and the female agent, after going around my request a few times, then said she was the manager. I told her I was coming down to the desk. When I got there, both agents were very rude. No manager was on duty and after lying, the male agent apologized for the mix up. I showed him the receipt that showed I paid and he didn’t even care.
I asked him to confirm if I have a reservation for the 31st - 1st which he unwilling did. At 8p Rocio called and was apologetic but by then I decided to cancel my reservation and booked elsewhere. I canceled my reservation at check out. To date, no one has contacted me...
