GANDHI SURF CAMP — Hotel in Máncora

Worst experience ever! NEVER STAY THERE! After we arrived and realized, that the pictures from booking.com are just fake and the place is very dirty, old and nobody cares about it, we decided to leave. According to the booking conditions we had to pay just the first night of arrival, but Mariano the host, forced us in a very aggressive and threatening atmosphere to pay the full price. Also after calling the booking.com agents and looking for help out of the situation, the agent recommend us to pay, because the host will not accept our rights and will leave us without paying for the whole stay. You can imagine the situation at night as a woman in a foreign country discussing about money in a aggressive atmosphere. Booking.com confirmed several times, that i have not to pay the full stay, just the first night, but Mariano don't care about this. Btw the next day he changed the T&C on booking.com that in case of cancellation the full price must be payed. Also the fight with booking.com afterwards, because the pictures and some reviews are fake and we want that booking.com refund us the money was awful! This Place is a nightmare! Dirty, no sheets are changed after the guests, cold water in a messed up room and bathroom, insects and bedbugs everywhere and a host who frighten guests. Dogs and cats on the table during breakfast (if you can call it "breakfast"). Animal-poo on the floors! I recommend that Mariano stop smoking weed in his hammock and start to clean up the camp and care about guests and his own conditions! And also, this place is far away from the beach and has nothing to do with surfing. The only thing what makes this place to a "surf camp" is the decoration surf-board on the wall. Not recommend, poor dirty hotel!

We had problems from start to finish with this place! First of all, it's impossible to find! Google maps is wrong and there are no signs directing you. We were early but no staff was around, even though breakfast is served from 8. we waited from 7 to 9 to find someone. We simply wanted to leave our luggage as check in wasn't till 2pm anyway. However, when we did meet the owner, we could have a room in 2 hours. We left and came back and were told another 30 mins and you can have your room! This went on like this until 14:45!

While waiting in the bar area and watching the cook brush off the bar and roll out a pizza, we realized why this place isn't sign posted, you shouldn't stay here. Kitchen, bar, rooms, every part of this hotel is dirty and unkempt. This is a great location for stag do's or for a single guy looking for simply a bed and place to trash! This is not for traveling girls, couples or anyone with standards!

Warning, the shower is ice cold and reminded me of being a kid running through the hose pipe. We had an uncomfortable night in the bed with the bed bugs!!

The cost of this place really isn't worth the price and there are better and cheaper options available! Breakfast was a joke, pizza dough balls turned into bread rolls and coffee with no milk! Dogs are lying all around the furniture. This is not a comfortable place to spend your time in Máncora! Bars and beach are not as close...
