I am a mother with two teenage children (13 and 18), we were travelling to Peru to visit their grandparents in Lima. To take a small vacation within Peru, we decided to take a bus to Trujillo in the North to try and find the sun. We had been desperatley trying to find a budget hotel in the Centro Historico of Trujillo, that was still comfortable. My son (13) managed ti look online and of the many hotels we saw listed we thought the Korianka looked like the best. We were expecting a little less than the website descripted, but as soon as we stepped into the hotel, the staff was right there to help us with our small amount of luggage and help us get accomadted into our room. The room we had reserved was a triple room with three beds, the only triple rooms are all facing the street, we all wanted to get some sleep in and thought it would be too loud to sleep near the street, so we called the main desk and said they could arrange to have our room in the back with the window facing a small courtyard, (while mainting the three beds desired) They were efficient and so helpful it was amazing, never in my 20 years of traveling throughout Peru have i stayed in a hotel with such clean rooms, and helpful staff members. The room was clean, and simple. With the softest, most comfortable beds, I´ve ever slept in! The rooms had all been recently remodled and all had quite modern, tiled bathrooms. The showers in this hotel, are hot, have amazing water pressure and are large and roomy. No tight squeeze showers here. Best shower in Peru, by far. Ive stayed in hostals, hotels, and resorts and the showers her are pure luxury. The price for this luxury, cost us only about 60 dollars a night. A steal for such an amazing hotel. The hotel is centrally located just four blocks from the Plaza de Armas, and near the pedestrian only, Avenida Pizzaro. It is also close to many cafes and bars were we would go and have some breakfast or pastires in the morning. The thing about the hotel is its only main guests are people in Trujillo for business just looking for a place to sleep. It is not a tourist ¨hot spot¨ which I thought was odd considsering the low prices and friendly staff. I hope to ensure the Korianka many new guests in the following years, to help this true hidden gem up to the top hotels of...
Read moreAn okay choice for a stay in Trujillo, although you should definitely look around at other hotels in town if you're able to. ||||Location - by far the hotel's best feature. One block from the pedestrian street (Pizarro St), 4-5 blocks from the Plaza. As is often the case, TA has the wrong location marked for this hotel. ||||Room - decent sized though a bit dated. The bathroom was generally spotless, but the carpet and comforter on the bed both looked and smelled like they hadn't been cleaned since they were installed. Our room was unfortunately above the street which made it VERY noisy. Try to get a room in the back of the building if at all possible. ||||Staff - ranged from friendly and helpful to surly and clueless depending on who you dealt with. At check-out the lady at the front desk tried to charge me for an extra night despite the fact that she was looking right at the computer. ||||Breakfast - Your standard Peruvian hotel breakfast of two eggs (scrambled or fried), some cold rolls or bread, coffee and juice. On our last day there my fried eggs were well-done to the point of being inedible, but the other breakfasts were just fine. ||||Overall, a completely average experience. I guess I'd recommend it, but not glowingly As I mentioned, look around at some other hotels in town first if you get a chance as you can probably find a better option at this...
Read moreThe Korianka is aprox. 10km from Trujillo´s airport and located in the histroric center of Trujillo.||It´s a small hotel and those of you who used to stay in 3-5* hotels will "experience a significant difference" here.||||Checkin was quick; my room on the second floor was very small. ||No aircondition - just a fan in the room and a strange smell which the management had tried to neutralize by having put some air fresheners in the room.||||Just 2-3 hangers in the closet; old carpeted floor - not looking very clean.||||The bathroom: small and very thin towels.||||Pool: was closed and there seems to be some construction works going on in the pool area.||I have not seen anyone working - nor has it been noisy. But the pool was covered and bricks around.||||Breakfast: very, very basic. Don´t expect too much at all.||||I fully agree with those other visitors who say that the location is one of the best characteristics of this hotel. And maybe it´s price.||||Okay to stay here for 1-3 nights; don´t book it for your...
