I initially booked a day for a week-long Negros Occidental trip— I ended up extending two more nights because of convenience due to its proximity to several must see/visit places and/or restaurants.||Pros (+)||- Strategic location. In the heart of Lacson Street/ Downtown. If you’re coming from the airport, just tell the driver to drop you off at Tom n Toms or ABS- CBN. Both places are situated beside Hometown. If you want to dine out, head out and cross the street— you will find Pendy’s (one of the well-known restaurants in Bacolod); 21 Restaurant/ Felicia’s/ C’s / Calea/ a Bong bongs branch are all one-short jeepney ride away from the hotel. A convenience store is likewise steps away from the place.|- All hotel attendants are polite and approachable. They are knowledgeable about the must see places too. I rely on them over the blog sites as they could give you tips in commuting, travelling etc.|- Rooms though basic are affordable and well-maintained/ clean.|- Clean sheets, comfy bed and pillows (at least for Room # 4, located at first level, near lobby)|- Second level is where the common area is located. There’s an oven, microwave, water dispenser (cold/ hot water), kitchen utensils, plates, spoon & fork, glass etc. — very ideal for budget/ DIY travellers (you just need to wash them up after use). Smoking areas are available at the ground/ second levels.||Cons (-)||- There’s an ongoing construction outside (this however did not impact our stay as they are operating in the morning when guests are awake/ out on tours not to mention that fact that we always travel with earplugs) |- They do not have a restaurant ergo, no food is available (except for bottled waters and sodas, a few local chips)|||What I loved the most about this place is the people— they extended extra miles to assist their clients. Our flight back home got cancelled due to typhoon and they quickly contacted nearby hotels to check vacancies. They even let us leave our things when we travelled to Sipalay.||This is highly...
Read moreHotel Review: Misleading, Disgusting, and Absolutely Not Worth It
I recently had the misfortune of staying at Hometown Hotel Bacolod, and I can confidently say it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. The online photos and descriptions were completely misleading, making it seem like a clean, well-maintained place. In reality, it was a filthy, poorly managed disaster.
First, the room was absolutely disgusting. The sheets looked like they hadn’t been changed in days, with stains that I don’t even want to think about. The bathroom smelled awful, and there was mold in the shower. The carpet was sticky, and the furniture looked like it had been there since the 80s—worn out, stained, and falling apart.
The service was just as bad as the room. The staff was rude and acted like they couldn’t care less about guests. When I brought up the issues with my room, they shrugged it off and didn’t offer any solutions. Housekeeping? Practically nonexistent. They never came to clean, and when I asked for fresh towels, I was met with attitude.
On top of all this, the hotel had hidden fees that weren’t disclosed during booking. What was supposed to be a budget-friendly stay ended up costing way more than it was worth.
Do yourself a favor—stay far away from this place. It’s not worth your money, your time, or your sanity. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my...
Read moreOur family of 4 including 2 kids aged 8 and 11 and anotger adult stayed at the family room in Hometown Hotel Bacolod last August 24-25, 2023.
Staff were very accommodating and very responsive when we checked in and asked for our takeaway food to be refrigerated.
Room size is decent to sleep 4 adults and a baby. Although, I would not recommend staying there with an infant. Rooms are not sound-proof. Guests can hear other guests opening and closing doors, conversations in the hallway, etc.. Room floor definitely needs sweeping and dusting. Dust mites visible on floor. Air-conditioning doesn't work well. Maybe needs cleaning too.
When I took a shower, a small cockroach and worm appeared on the bathroom floor and by the shower curtain. Cobwebs are also present near the shower heater. There's a leak in a pipe on the bathroom ceiling which causes dirty water marks on the wall near the switch.
The whole room needs deep cleaning and sanitizing which can easily be done with a good soap, clean water, and disinfectant. Toilet and sink have yellow water marks too which indicates they have been long overdue for a clean-up too.
Even outside the building were trash and animal manure which stinks in the morning. It would have been a more enjoyable and healthy stay if it weren't for the issue of cleanliness...
