PIG DIVE HOSTEL MOALBOAL — Hotel in Cebu

Pig Dive is truly a gem! After 5 months of traveling there was something about this place that has made it one of the best, if not THE BEST, hostel I’ve stayed in.

The staff is always so friendly and kind, and the hostel rescue dogs are so cute (although shy so respect their boundaries!). The shared kitchen is a nice touch as I feel like lots of hostels in SE Asia lack this and often have a no outside food policy. The outdoor space is so lovely and the bug repellent is an awesome touch for when you’re out here in the evenings. Lots of covered space to let clothes dry from a hand wash or after returning from the beach. The rooms are super comfy, AC remote available to be adjusted to your preference. And they even give you earplugs (the first foam ones that have ever truly blocked sound for me, wow!!!). Locker spaces are amazing- both a big one and a smaller (but still super spacious) one in your bunk. I will say I’m usually a top hater, but this one was surprisingly easy to climb in and out of.

My only potential con about this place would have been the distance from the beach (still only a 20 min walk) BUT, they offer a shuttle to/from the beach, and to/from 7/11 every hour from 8 am until 7 pm!!!!

Free drinking water, darts, and plenty games available to use while here were also lovely perks. They also offer breakfast for purchase in the mornings. You can book tours directly through the hostel as well and they have some light snacks, beer and drinks available for purchase at reception.

Loved the rooms made of shipping containers - quirky and fun design. ||We had a private room which had a double bed and private bathroom. The room was clean, bed was comfy and the bathroom was a decent size. ||The staff are lovely and always said hello when they saw us. They have a shuttle bus which takes guests from the hostel to pangasama Beach or Moalboal town every hour. On our first night we had missed the last shuttle to the beach but we wanted to go out for some dinner and the driver kindly offered to drive us. We tried to pay him when we arrived and he refused, and then gave us a helpful tip about how much we should pay for a bike/trike for our return journey later that night. ||||The free breakfast of coffee with bacon or ham with eggs (fried, scrambled or omlette) and toast was perfect.||||The hostel is slightly out of the way, but it's about halfway between the beach and the town so it worked perfectly for us. ||||They organise day trips (kawasan falls/canyoneerings) but we did this ourselves using public transport (got the hotel shuttle to Moalboal town and then public bus to Kawasan for 30peso per person ). ||||They have cockerels next door which gave us an annoying 3am wake up call each day (& continued for most of the day!!) but ear plugs are provided which help drown out the noise. ||||A great place to stay- I wouldn't hesitate...

Literally my new favorite hostel in town. Everything in this hostel is top notched! The staff? They are awesome, nice and accommodating. The facilities? It feels like I was teleported back to my hostel in Japan where everything you need is there, laundry area, indoor and outdoor towels without extra charge, shared kitchen with gas stove, complete cooking utensils and a fridge, free water. The location? Absolutely perfect. Not too close but not too far away from everything in Moalboal. A little far from the bars so rest assured you can sleep well here. They also have a motorbike rental contact where the rent goes to a dog shelter. How cool is that?? They also offer free shuttle to and back to Panagsama or to Panagsama Beach. And oh the internet also works well anywhere in the hostel and I say it in a sense where it can allow me to work in the dorm room or in the common area. The rooms, common area, and the bathrooms are always kept clean as well plus huge locker rooms. Ive had a great time in this hostel and definitely not my last stay here.
