Our stay at Pearl Resort had its ups and downs, but overall, it turned out to be a good choice for budget travelers.
When we first arrived, there were a few minor issues—finding staff took a bit of effort, and our initial ground-floor room lacked privacy, with windows facing the check-in desk. The beach wasn’t quite as pictured, and while the AC worked, it was quite loud. Alex (a friendly Ukrainian gentleman - think he's the owner?), went out of his way to cook us a meal even though the kitchen was officially closed, which was much appreciated after a long journey.
The staff was understanding of our concerns and allowed us to move to a new room, which made a huge difference. In the new room, we had more privacy, a quieter AC unit, a toilet seat, and still enjoyed hot showers. It was quieter overall, with much less noise from other rooms. The team also arranged a scooter for us at a good price, making it easy to explore the area. Throughout our stay, they were friendly and helpful, and we began to appreciate the resort's quirky charm, complete with roaming cats and dogs. It's a little remote so the scooter is required, but that might be a good thing depending on your perspective.
For ~1800-2000 Pesos per night, it’s great value if you’re prepared for a few quirks. If you’re looking for an affordable, relaxed spot with friendly service, Pearl Resort can be a pleasant and...
Read moreHORRIBLE. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We booked a whole bungalow but we were given the room connecting to the bar/reception. We were told that our bungalow was under renovation but this was not communicated at all before our arrival. The downgrade room that was given had cats rubbing their bottoms on bed pillows, a translucent curtain facing bar. One of us is severely allergic to cats and property had no mention of animals in rooms. The manager lady was caught off guard when we said we wouldn't settle for the down-grade and told us we could stay in the bungalow that was still under renovation. Filthy, nails sticking out from floorboards, no AC, holes in floors. Owner tried to silence us by offering the room under...
Read moreGreat dissapointment. Booked via Booking.com. Pictures are outdated. We got the worst room, close to the kitchen/reception. Very noisy, you can hear everything. Meager breakfast and coffee is not included. Power outlets exposed and electricity wires hanging from the ceiling. Cockroaches and bugs in the room. One evening the roof was leaking. The owner claimed the roof was just renovated. We were relocated to another room, in a different building, 3/4 floors up. We decided to checkout and move to another hotel the next day. The hotel is far away/off-road. No restaurants/shops/towns nearby. Reception is not available...
