This was our first time staying at Emerald Boutique Hotel (EBH). This was our experience…||We had originally booked a place to stay via airbnb. However, upon arrival, the place was nothing like the description. So, we didn’t even have to think twice about not staying there. That will have its own review. ||Getting back to our experience at EBH. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a smile by France. We inquired about a room and was told that they were booked for the night. However, she was kind enough to double check and see if all of the expected guests had arrived. After much effort, she was finally able to accommodate us for the night at the third floor but reserve a second floor for us since my father has a difficulty in climbing stairs. The following day, we were able to transfer to the second floor as promised. ||A day later after breakfast, we were fortunate enough to meet the hotel’s owner and general manager. Apparently the owner overheard the conversations that we had the night before and wanted to help us. We informed, Mr. Noel and Mr. Leo that we need an accommodations for about 30 days maybe even longer but was informed that we could only stay for only one night since all the rooms are booked. ||However, we didn’t want to move since we really like the hotel and it is near to some of the offices that we need to go to. After a few more conversations with the owner and the hotel’s general manager, we were told to go to our room and to just relax amd that they will take care of things and will give us an update asap or no later than by close of business. ||After a few hours, Mr. Leo personally came up to our room to give us the great news that we don’t need to worry and that we can stay in our room. We did receive a call from the front desk in the latter part of the day due to some miscommunications between the staff. I reached out to Mr. Leo to inform him of the situation and he took immediate action to resolve the situation and promised me that such issues would not happen again. ||Emerald Boutique Hotel is a hidden secret hotel. The service is top notch. The room attendants are on point. The food, I don’t even know where to begin. Let’s just say that I have probably gained a few pounds just from my few days stay thus far. Mr. Renz is also there to assist you if you have any questions.||If you’re looking for a five star experience and still want to save money to be able to do other things, look no more. Read moreCalled in to inquire but the person on the other line, Chad, was so nice to accept booking via phone call. On the first night, I checked in late and checked out at 4am and they were so nice to prepare a sandwich for my breakfast to go. I got Rm210, a standard room. It was clean except for a used tissue left by the previous guest on the head board. Proof that the room wasn’t cleaned throughly. However, everybody in the hotel was so nice so I liked it. On the second night, I booked via phone and was told that they were fully booked and that the only available room was a deluxe which was Php1,000.00 more expensive than my previous room. I arrived at around midnight, too tired and dizzy from the travel and the guard was so nice to carry my bags when he saw me alight from the service, however, I was made to wait at the front desk until the receptionist finished her phone call before she attended to me. The first thing I noticed when I entered 219 was that there were mosquitoes and the room wasn’t smelling fresh. The bowl was stained with what seems to be something that can easily be removed by a brush with soap and water. It was hard to shower for it was positioned next to a post that occupies most of the space. I was too exhausted to care about the inconveniences. The following day, i learned that the bowl was clogged and when I tried to flush it, it overflowed. I told the receptionist of the problem upon check out and I knew that they called the maintenance before I left. I’m giving it 3 stars because of the exceptional service given by the employees, however, I have misgivings about their cleanliness. Moreover, I expected a better room with the room upgrade, ironically, everything downgraded when I paid more for the room (from the facility to the...
Read moreThis hotel has been recently renovated and has nice, modern internal appointments. It is clean, staff are friendly and helpful, the free wifi works well and connects quickly (the booster was right outside our room however) and everything in the room worked well. The location is fine, in close walking distance to some fair take away style food outlets and MacDonalds, etc, but is a decent tricycle ride (50Php) from the city centre itself where you can choose from 3 different malls for a much wider range of shopping. The main downsides to this hotel are that the rooms are tiny...and I am only small, so those taller than me (i.e: over 166cm) will no doubt experience the very low ceilings and minimal floor space as claustrophobic). There is no frig, no jug, no after hours tea or coffee making, breakfast has few choices, and is not served buffet style. The thing that was a constant frustration however, once all these other limitations were accepted, was that, despite the newness of the bathroom, the tap they fitted over the 'bowl on bench' style basin, hardly extended at all over the basin, meaning you could not wash your hands properly. Silly bit of building showing a lack of consideration of what they were doing, as I am sure an equally priced tap could have been chosen that would have done the job soooo much better.
It is a 3 star hotel, because of its recent renovations and attempt to present it well. It falls down badly on customer focus...so my rating is a borderline 3 stars...
