Subic Grand Seas Resort — Hotel in Olongapo

You should go when… Your standard in hotels is not high. Price is ok but not full its worth. It’s ok for you to be with certain demographic that is not well versed in cleanliness. Staff is friendly.

You shouldn’t go when… You expect everything in the room is working. Missing stuff like half of the shower door, some rooms not working exhaust so restroom smell is contained in room, electrical plugs, some refs are really smelly (not cleaned). Cleanliness of the rooms. It’s not that dirty but not well maintained also. Suspect fast cleaning but no general cleaning. Rules are lax. A lot of times employees are not masked. It’s like they won’t wear it as long as they can get away from it. Beach not clean (government problem). Saw large dead rat at beach. Saw large rats next day looking for food in trash bins near rooms. Pool ok but not great (tired and have damages) even though convenient because it’s located near rooms. Subic public beach not well maintained. The beach near the hotel certainly is not being cleaned by the hotel. We have to sweep and throw a large dead rat on the beach ourselves. Wifi in rooms are almost none existent because of almost impossible to connect. And when connected, most of the time it doesn’t work at all.

Conclusion: Subic Grand Seas Resort is a hotel that seems to be left out with the times (just like Subic in itself). Even though rooms got repainted, with its low quality maintenance and low quality training of staff and service its left with the times. It’s just like it’s there as long as people will go with low standards but passion in improving and giving the customers the best vacation experience that they will have is gone. Personally i really didn’t enjoy my stay in this hotel. My very early impressions were a bit too many that it affected my whole 3 day stay mindset. But if you are not picky and be willing to stay while other guests are staying having bbq near the pool not too mindful of social distancing and cleanliness, then this might be for you but unfortunately for...

I and two friends booked this hotel we like the location and the reviews on it seemed okay. The rooms are very sparsely furnished. There is a desk and a chair a TV on a stand a couple of side tables. No place to put your suitcase the Wardrobe to hang your clothes is almost non-existent very small. The pros were while it was a very small window type air conditioner it was very adequate and cool the room down very quickly and held the temperature it was set at with no problem. And the location was another Plus in the middle of the action if you're there for the bar scene. The bathroom was dismal there was a shower no shower door at all so water got all over the bathroom floor the shower door had been removed it was there at one point because the track was there but it was just missing. No soap dish in the shower no place to put the soap so had to put it on top of the glass wall which was very dirty because it was in a place where they generally wouldn't clean. When we arrived there were no bath mats the second day I asked them why there were no bath mat to which they replied or would you like one and we did get one finally seems like it would be automatic. Two bath towels only no hand towel and no medium size towels in the rooms. The television a 32in newer model but the remote was not working as was the remote for the air conditioner not working had to be adjusted manually. There were a fair amount of television channels but as I tried to tune them in they must have been premium channels that the hotel did not subscribe to and most of them were unavailable. PROS Aesthetically pleasing resort.

The rooms from outside have modern and elegant design. You have a view of the beach which is a good back drop for picture taking if taken from their pool and restaurant area.

Security and convenience in parking.

You can park your car right across your room. Very convenient when unloading/loading your bags. You also feel secure since you can see your car just outside your room window.

The food in the restaurant is consistently good.

While in Subic, we usually invite friends from Olongapo to join us for dinner here in their in house resto. They have a Japanese/Filo restaurant.

Staff are very courteous and polite. We had a few complaints  in our recent stay and they were very open in receiving those feedbacks.

CONS Facilities obviously had rundown and cleanliness has not been a top priority.

We are going to this resort almost yearly since 2013. In our recent stay this Jan2018, our room had little cockroaches in the cabinet and under the mini fridge. :( :( :( The room was proliferated with mosquitoes that even the staff I called in left the insect repellant spray in our room  in case we need to use it later. We had to leave the room for a couple of hours because of the bug spray scent. The bathroom is dark and moldy. Towels even if smelling good with fabric conditioner, obviously are old and ratty. We had to refund our second night as we can't bear spending more time inside the room. :(
