Golden Seagulls Hotel — Hotel in Parañaque

After staying with Golden Phoenix Hotel (Pasay) then Taal Vista Hotel (Tagaytay), I drove to Golden Seagulls Hotel and park in the basement car park. There's no other car there by my rental car.

Checking in was easy. Hotel staff knew what they are doing.

Went to our room in the 26th floor. There were only two elevators operating during the time we stayed there (11 days). On one occasion, one of the elevator wasn't operating at all.

So, the room is like a studio apartment style. There was one big bed (king size)in the bedroom and a very comfy bed. There's a dining table and a sofa. There's a flat screen TV but there's only chinese show - unlike other hotels that have cable TV. No fridge. Hot water is a small. There's a kitchen facility but doesn't have a hot water at all, same with the vanity.

So, I contacted Agoda, which listed this place as 5-STAR and tried to cancel my booking as I wasn't happy with their 5-STAR rating but the hotel is far from 5-STAR. In fairness, the owner or manager of the hotel told me that the hotel is only 4-star. AGODA agent tried to talk to the hotel staff and tried to help me out cancelling my booking but to no avail. How can AGODA listing a property as a 5-STAR when it's not a 5-STAR?

Again, the hotel manager or owner tried to win me by getting a bar fridge and a new TCL TV. As much as I wanted to cancel my booking, I can't get my money back and AGODA offered an US$83 for my trouble (LOL.. what a joke, I didn't accept that bribe). AGODA listing this place as 5-STAR is a false advertisement or false rating.

So, yes we stayed in this hotel for 11 days. Breakfast buffet is serve in the 8th floor, where the gym (open 8am to 8pm) and a big swimming pool (4 feet high and a separate 2 feet high for kids, but close on Thursday) is also located. Breakfast buffet is pretty ordinary. Not much choice. No butter or not even bread in our first breakfast. Only have sunny side up eggs, Filipino sausage or Longanisa, porridge, very dry siomai, spring roll and rice, brewed coffee and cream in a small satchet. That's about it really. We didn't even eat in that buffet for a few days as we don't see the point.

During our 11 days of stay, there was one time that someone open our door at 5:55AM even when there's a sign "DO NOT DISTURB" was displayed in the door. When I asked the reception, they knock on my door with the cleaner, after 10mins and explained that it was a mistake on the part of the cleaner. LOL Twice the fire alarm went off without warning and when I called the reception, they said, it's false alarm. Kind of worried as we're in the 26th floor. There was internet hiccups too. It just stopped working one day and when we came back at night, I couldn't even connect my laptop as it was saying DNS not found and since then, have trouble connecting the TV to their WIFI and my laptop too.

I've got SMART connectivity on my phone but it doesn't work in the area so it's no use. I think GLOBE is also the same as grab drivers can't even connect there too.

Highlight of the hotel is, they can pick you up and drop you at the airport without charge. Staff are very helpful. Owner/Manager was very helpful during our stay.

So, AGODA please stop false listing a hotel as a 5-star when...

Okay lets get things straight. It is a budget hotel, well at least for the price we got it so set your expectation. Location is not a public friendly one so you will need to either walk, grab/taxi. Service is Ok, reception is ok, Room service ok. Food wise there are a lot on other buildings, most would not be familiar with this kind of setup and will be intimidating for others that does not have experience. All are Chinese restaurants with Filipino crew so no issues dining. Room is acceptable, but as other reviews said there are insects in the room. The kettle we had was used to boil a milk coffee and has spoiled which service team replaced immediately. When booking hotels/rooms its mostly a challenge to get hot water running. Managed to get this one after 20 minutes of tinkering as it will not work properly with low flow of water so make sure to increase the flow for it to work you will see some kind of signal/flow on the heater signaling its going to work.
