We had a fantastic stay at the Four Points Sheraton in Palawan with my wife and two kids. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and appreciated, and I want to share a detailed review of the aspects that truly made our experience memorable.
Lifeguards I must start with the lifeguards, as they were the standout feature of our stay. I've never encountered lifeguards so dedicated to their responsibilities while also respecting the beachgoers' enjoyment. Unlike at other resorts where lifeguards may overuse their whistles and appear stern, the lifeguards here struck a perfect balance. They were always courteous, providing helpful information about the currents and quickly responding when young guests ventured too far into the water. They even took the time to safeguard personal belongings, moving sandals and towels to prevent them from being swept away by unexpected waves. It's clear that these lifeguards are truly committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Breakfast The breakfast options were impressive, featuring a delightful range of choices that catered to all tastes. The highlight for us was the soup and omelette bars, which allowed us to customize our meals each morning. Over our six-night stay, we were pleasantly surprised to find new options daily, keeping our breakfast experience fresh and exciting.
Pool Bar The bartenders at the pool bar were both skilled and friendly, crafting delicious cocktails that enhanced our relaxation by the pool. Their attentiveness and cheerful demeanor made each visit enjoyable, and the poolside atmosphere was perfect for unwinding with family.
Housekeeping Housekeeping services were exceptional. Our room was always spotless, and my kids looked forward to discovering what towel animal would greet us each day. This thoughtful touch added a fun element to our stay and showed the staff's attention to detail.
Location The hotel is perfectly situated, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape and a private beach that our family loved. The fun waves were great for the kids, providing endless entertainment. Plus, the easy access to nearby activities made our stay even more enjoyable.
While our experience was overwhelmingly positive, there are a couple of areas where I believe improvements could enhance future guests' experiences: It might be beneficial to consider hiring additional staff for the restaurant. During peak times, the existing team seemed a bit overwhelmed, which occasionally slowed down service. I would also suggest using higher-quality spirits in the cocktails. While the drinks were enjoyable, upgrading the ingredients could elevate the overall experience.
Overall, we had a truly wonderful time at the Four Points Sheraton in Palawan. We look forward to returning in the future and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a family-friendly getaway in a beautiful setting. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay...
Read moreThis has to be the best option for a stay in Puerto Princessa and to see the world famous UNESCO heritage site - Underground River and one of the new Seven Wonders of Nature. The resort is top notch quality, service and 5 star all the way. There is no other place I saw in the area that comes close to the standard of the Four Points Sheraton. ||As you enter the reception area, you are greeted with a magnificent view of the huge Romanesque pool that starts at reception and goes all the way to the beach. The beach itself is a great to swim and chill in - reminiscence of the silky waters of Tobago in the Caribbean. The hotel had these bed structures on the beach to relax and which we used at night.||The restaurant on the beachfront - Evolution - has a nice breakfast and lunch options. We did not try the dinner, opting to patronize the locals instead, but they did have theme nights with a buffet of mouth watering options. Rhythmic drums was the entertainment one night we were there. ||The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Balcony views of the sea and the gorgeous pool. The service fantastic. Special mention to Jane who kept us informed and kept our rooms when we had the misfortune of using a rogue travel agent who tried to cancel the booking. That’s another story. ||The location of the hotel cannot be beat. The hotel is a hour and half drive from the Puerto Princessa Airport but then once there you are walking distance to the boats to go to the island’s main attraction - the Underground River - UNESCO heritage site. This river is a must do in Phillipines with its magnificent stalagmite and stalactite formations that only nature and time can do. Mosquito repellant was recommended which we used so couldn’t say if mosquitoes were a problem or not. ||If you like remote villages on the beach with their rustic charms, small shops and villagers trying to earn a simple and an honest living - the village around the hotel will be interesting for you. It’s just a few mins walk from the hotel. There are a few Mom and Pop restaurants and bar in the area simple with that home made taste and basic furniture. The Hungarian sausage was a hit. The souvenir shops were very fun places to browse and had interesting items. Due to the remote location, you won’t find music bands for entertainment so expect simpler forms of entertainment - like dare I suggest it - conversations and walks along the beach. ||So this hotel is a gem gleaming amongst the rough. But even the rough was magnificent. The location of the hotel is walking distance to the Underground River, UNESCO heritage site and one of the New Wonders of the World. The silky beach, magnificent pool and restaurant are other attractions to indulge...
Read moreThe Four Points Palawan is a nice place to stay.
It is remote but a clean and beautiful place. When you‘re outside by the pool you have a view of green hills and on the other side you have the beach and the ocean.
But my stay was quite dampened because of a few things.
we were forgotten to give welcome drinks upon our arrival. (Other guests arriving before and after us did get some.) At least they were brought to us in our rooms. (After we mentioned it)
Upon checking my given room I noticed that the toilet seat was loose and the shower was leaking. I immediately notified front desk about it and the technician came right away.
on our second day I noticed that the the glass door of the shower was falling off! And when I informed front desk about it he even said that it is not the first time that this happened! Extremely dangerous if you think about it, if the glass door shiuld really fall off completely!
But the over-the-top was the absolute slow and unorganized service staff. (Restaurant & pool bar) Don‘t get me wrong. They were all kind and friendly. But it seemed to me that they were lacking basic service skills and knowledge.
On our first day at dinner we waited for almost half an hour for a waiter with giving us the menu. After giving us the menu he would tell me a lot of the menu is not available - so why offer in the first place?
Then we waited again for so long until someone came by and asked for drinks. And guess how low we waited again for our 2 drinks.. When we were already finished eating. At least they did not bill us for the drinks.
We ate the buffet which was mediocre at best. Nothing special and outstanding.
The staff did not care about putting the used plates away. I had to put them away myself so they won‘t pile up on out table.
Next morning, new staff at the breakfast - same procedure:
Hard to get a hold of a waiter for a water refill. After waiting for 20-25 Minutes, I just grabbed the water jug myself and filled it up for our table.
Waiting time for 2 eggs were also frustrating. Once again we had to cancel the order because we also were already finished with breakfast.
Ordering food for in-room service was not provided with estimated waiting time.
Given the fact, that 10% service charge is already included is another downside. Absolutely not earned.
I did not enjoy our stay and my expectations of a Four Points by Sheraton was not met due to the lack of service that I expect from such a resort.
I am willing to give Four Points Palawan another chance maybe in a few years, when they drastically improve...
