We booked the ibis budget hotel for one night after visiting Ultrace on Sunday. Firstly, I made a mistake and booked the wrong one (which, of course, is on me) so we had to get an Uber to the city centre. The location was really good, we ended up just walking around the city the next day straight from the hotel which wasn’t far at all. When we arrive the reception worker was really nice, spoke perfect English and gave us the keycard with clear instruction of where to go. We were on the 2nd floor and were a little worried it would be stuffy due to the scorching weather that day but the room wasn’t hot at all and was fitted with easy to control aircon (a pleasant surprise given that we only paid £36 for the night). The room was the size of a small studio flat, with a tv, double bed, small table with chairs, sink, shower and enclosed toilet. The toilet didn’t have a lock in the door which was a little weird but we didn’t have an issue with that. The shower was a bit temperamental but still lovely and hot. Everything was pretty clean bar a stain in the toilet seat and some very scuffed walls. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable in the world but we didn’t expect it to be. The issue we had was the smell of our room - it smelt like a public toilet. We put this down to the fact that the toilet and a small section outside the bathroom had laminate floor with no barrier between it and the carpet of the rest of the room - presumably it’s soaked up a lot of yucky stuff. This was hard to get over and made me feel quite sick. The second issue is how paper thin the walls were. So thin, for instance, that we could hear a man burp very clearly as he walked past the room and sine very strong bashes on the wall that shook the bed. Otherwise, the stay was quite pleasant and a total bargain. For that alone,...
Read moreI must suffer from travel amnesia, I stayed at this Ibis Budget 5 years ago but had forgotten how thin the mattresses were and that they lay on solid fibreboard bases. They are not comfortable and this is such a shame as everything else was really good. Check in was efficient and staffed by pleasant young people whose English was far superior to my Polish. The room was clean, quiet and warm, the shower in the room is a little idiosyncratic but had plenty of hot water, pleasant complimentary toiletries and nice towels. The separate loo would have been useful had I been sharing. Housekeeping staff were pleasant and friendly. Breakfast had something for everyone and the lady worked steadily tidying and replenishing. The coffee was nice, my only complaints would be that there were no diabetic options ( sugar free muesli, reduced sugar jam etc.) and no eggs. The front desk ordered a taxi for my early morning departure, but sadly couldn't provide a takeaway breakfast. This was not refundable as I had booked the no cancellation option, even though they had failed to provide. The taxi was prompt and at a fixed price to the airport 100zl (£20) well worth it. The hotel is easily accessed by tram to the TV/Radio stop. I would recommend tram over bus based on my experience. So would I stay here again, probably not just because of the beds, on my next visit I will choose the Ibis in town which was fully booked on this trip. Such a shame as they do so much right at...
Read moreWe booked this hotel for the night after visiting Ultrace. The location wasn’t far from the stadium (only around 7miles) and was in a nice quiet part of the city. The check in was easy and the staff were very nice and spoke great English. The room was the size of a small studio flat: with a double bed, a tv, aircon, blackout blinds, a shower and sink in the room itself plus a closed off toilet. Great value for money, especially with the aircon - well worth the £36 we paid. We didn’t opt in for breakfast so can’t comment on the food service, however on the way out we were able to buy drinks from a fridge right near the front desk and ordered an Uber for dinner. Issues we had were the horrible smell of the room (like a public toilet, this was really difficult to look past and made me feel quite sick) and the walls being paper thin - thankfully the people in the other rooms were quiet but we could hear everything in the hallway as clear as if you were out there, and in the morning, one of the neighbouring rooms crashed into the wall a few times which shook the entire wall and bed quite badly. Despite the issues, the stay was a bargain and we would stay again. The location meant we were able to just walk straight into the city centre and explore after checkout (which was also simple and quick). I would recommend this to anyone looking for a bargain location to stay...
