Park Południowy — Attraction in Wrocław

Southern Park - park in Wrocław , located in the southern part of the Borek estate . It is counted among landscape parks with great compositional and dendrological values .

Unlike other city parks, it was created from scratch, and not through adaptation of forest areas. In 1877, the landowner of significant areas, including on the southern outskirts of Wrocław, including parts of Borek and nearby Partynic , the Wrocław merchant and philanthropist Julius Schottländer , handed over the park to the city in exchange for connecting Borek to the municipal gas, water supply and sewage networks.

On the land donated to the city until 1892, landscape architect Hugo Richter and botanist Ferdinand Cohn created a landscape park with clearings and a large pond over which brewer Georg Haase built a stylish restaurant with a high tower. There is no restaurant today, there is a park with a pond with fountains, above it a scenic Landsberg terrace, and Bender's hill with a small gazebo, paths, glades, well-kept flowerbeds and a perennial garden. Since 1995, the park has been entered in the register of monuments. 109 species of plants grow in it; the attractions of the park include interesting dendrological specimens of the marsh cypryśnika ( Taxodium distichum ), American tulip tree ( Liriodendron tulipifera ), five-leafed peanut ( Carya ovata ), plane tree ( Platanus x hispanica Münchh.) and chestnut variety rarely found in Poland ( Aesculus hippocastanum Digitata ).

Park Południowy jest doskonały miejscem odpoczynku i relaksu. Jest to park krajobrazowy o dużych walorach kompozycyjnych i dendrologicznych, w którym warto zobaczyć okazy den-drologiczne : kasztanowiec japoński, żywotnik olbrzymi, tulipanowiec amerykański. Wielbicieli roślin urzekną natomiast nie tylko piękne drzewa, ale również ogród bylinowy. W parku oprócz spacerów urządzić można sobie piknik z całą rodzinką i cieszyć się zielenią. Ozdobą parku jest taras widokowy Landsberga zbudowany nad parkowym stawem oraz zabytkowa altana Bendera na wzgórzu, wiernie odbudowana po pożarze. Jej współczesna wersja, podobnie jak oryginalna, powstała z drewna modrzewiowego. Są to znakomite miejsca do odpoczynku wśród parkowej zieleni i doskonałymi punktami widokowym, pozwalającym podziwiać panoramę terenu. Obowiązkowo należy odwiedzić pomnik Fryderyka Chopina. Teren wokół niego jest otoczony pięknie wypielęgnowanymi klombami. Można więc zrobić piękne zdjęcia. Dla dzieci oczywiście najważniejszym punktem jest plac zabaw.
