Concise and to the point We were just passing through and needed a cheap place to stay for one night. Expecting a hotel, we were surprised to find out it was a youth hostel upon arrival. This is just an observation, not a negative judgment.
The rooms were very basic, and the windows only tilted open, which was unpleasant in the summer heat. The showers were particularly unhygienic: the water didn't drain, they were dirty, and they smelled bad. Aside from that, the rest of the accommodation was clean. Unfortunately, some of the other guests didn't always respect the quiet hours, which was a bit bothersome.
We found it unusual that we were supposed to leave our room keys in a basket at the reception whenever we left the building. After a short discussion where we pointed out the security risk—that someone could simply grab a random key and enter a stranger’s room—we were allowed to keep our key.
The breakfast was tasty and there was a good variety.
The price of €39 for two people was very cheap. For this price, you can't expect luxury, but the accommodation was perfectly fine...
Read moreI do not recommend staying here, unless you want something really cheap. The bathroom was okay, quite decent. The breakfast was the best out of all the features, it isn't amazing, but you can get a lot out of it and it's included in the price. The bedrooms for multiple people are quite uncomfortable: there was mold next to the window and ceiling, the light is awful, they are cold in the winter, the top bunk beds are quite wobbly, there are VERY FEW outlets in the room and there was a ridiculously small amount of space to walk trough between beds. There weren't even lockers inside the bedroom. The common room was okay, not very pleasant either, quite dull and not comfortable at all. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a kitchen for the guests to prepare food either. The staff was generally nice and helpful. The wifi is only available in the common room, it doesn't reach the bedrooms. The building, in its whole, it's quite unpleasant to be in, it's really ugly, dark and cramped. I suggest spending a little bit more so you can stay...
Read moreMost horrible hostel I've ever stepped foot into.
We arrived at 10.00PM at night after a long days travelling just looking for somewhere basic to rest our heads. We were welcomed into the old mental asylum and instantly felt uncomfortable. The smell, colour scheme, strange noises and dodgy characters around really wasn't expected in a "youth hostel". I figured "okay maybe the rooms will be fine" DISGUSTING, blood stained sheets, with brown marks completed the smell of sewage throughout the building. What was most strange for me was that the rooms only had one master key to lock/unlock the room (key was supposed to be left outside in the door lock) I had the feeling if I left my girlfriend in her room it wouldn't be safe, one weird man asked her "are you staying in this room tonight" luckily we had the sense to leave the hostel after 5 minutes. They refused any refund/compensation. Went to sleep in the train station and could guarantee it was much cleaner and safe. Terrible...
