€ Terrible stay, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Save your money and stay elsewhere the location is great, apart from the mass building works directly opposite that start at 07:15am I had to change rooms 4 times, the first room had yellow water and no hot water as well as someone’s leftover hair in the bath.. When I spoke to reception they looked at me like I was insane. I was moved to the second room and this room had a broken A/C to which I was then told I needed to leave it on all day for it to work, it had been on all day and most of the night and still hot air coming out of it. the third room the A/C broke after about an hour usage, I was told it was brand new but it would simply switch on then immediately switch off. The final room was Ok, still yellow water running from the taps, single glazed windows so the building works that started at 07:15 were absolutely horrendous. The noise from the main roads were constant all night. At this point I was so fed up having to change rooms 4 times in 5 nights, the staff didn't seem to bothered either. The sun area on the top floor has NO chairs whatsoever even though the picture shown displays sun loungers. there is One socket in each room which is no where near the beds. The beds are so uncomfortable it's like sleeping on hard wooden floor. The bathrooms are average, the bath tubs are big enough for a child. Do not stay here, it...
Read moreWe have been to Porto many times and for this trip we wanted to visit somewhere different.. We decided on Aveiro which was an easy train journey from Porto. ||||After spending one night in Porto (Hotel Bolsa also highly recommended) we travelled by train to Aveiro. ||||We just loved Hotel Imperial. We decided to pay extra for the suite as we wanted extra space. Our only complaint was that there was no furniture on the balcony to sit out. The outside of the hotel and consequently the photos on line, do not do the inside of the hotel, justice. Of course it is old fashioned but that is precisely why we liked it so much. We loved the character of this hotel. It's all very 1970's. We really loved the fact that it was spotlessly clean. We also loved the breakfast room and the breakfast itself. ||||We had Sunday lunch at the hotel which is very popular with the locals, though we didn't consider this to be particularly good value. It was however good fun as a one off.||||Breakfast was great. The breakfast room was very spacious, the choice was excellent and the buffet well stocked.||||This hotel is in a great position the town. The best restaurants are just a couple of streets away. Staying here means you are an easy walk away from the very busy tourist area but in the middle of a quieter area favoured by locals. ||||We can't wait to return. We wouldn't stay anywhere...
Read moreGreat value. A little dated. Super helpful management. 1st contact @ Front desk was very unprepared & made many mistakes but as we were early we needed to go out and return later, on our return another member of staff was well orginised and had our correct information. Discounted parking is nice but system of parking, going to reception then needing to return to the offsite parking facility and drive out then back in again with a hotel parking card was messy and needed to be repeated on our departure. Unfriendly breakfast staff need customer service training and the new covid procedures for customers arriving and getting breakfast needs to be clearer, example would be: I can't get a drink myself & need to wait for one of the 2 staff to pour me a drink, taking them from the food queue which caused more delays & creating extra handling and when I asked for a plate TWO people handled it without gloves before giving it to me. Seems a bit contradictory. Atmosphere at breakfast was weird as there was constant sexy music videos on the tv. I would suggest world news or turn it off. Room 507 is awesome. Overall 5 stars (based on management and price) with what I hope is considered helpful constructive critisim. Ps. Check battery in tv remote in 507 an the room...
