Dona Maria Deck — Restaurant in Beja

If it was based on food alone it would receive 3 stars. However with regards to basic health and food hygiene I would not recommend this place to anybody at the moment. We visited last week and were astonished to find that the restaurant was not following the mandatory requirements for restaurants during the Covid crisis. In a nutshell catering and serving staff were handling food without gloves, kitchen staff were either not wearing masks or wearing them incorrectly, and the manager of the place also was not wearing a mask whilst in the eating area. To compund things when we asked the manager why he and his staff were not following the mandatory guidelines his response was that none of the staff had the virus and there was not a problem with the virus in Beja. Unbelievable. When we said what about protecting staff from customers who may be infected he just shrugged his shoulders. No dia 23-12-2024, numa data especial de aniversario da minha esposa, tentamos a marcação para poder usufruir do restaurante já que nós nunca tínhamos ido a este espaço, do qual nos foi negado a marcação por chamada telefônica pelo proprietário, e nos aconselhou a chegar por volta das 19:00h para ter mesa, mas qual a minha supressa quando chego e vejo mesas reservadas , em que ficamos? ou ah reservas ou não. isto o 1º ponto negativo da parte do proprietário , o 2º ponto pedimos uma picanha ao ponto e uma mais mal passada, do qual quando o proprietário nos levou a mesa e disse picanha normal, e nos lhe perguntamos , a picanha uma é mal passada e outra ao ponto, não existe picanha normal. Após o proprietário voltar a referir que a carne normal, e debater-se vezes sem conta, nós não criamos mais despicarias. E aceitamos a picanha "normal". 3º ponto o acompanhamento o arroz sem sabor , frio e já estava feito a bastante tempo quem sabe desde manhã ou sabe-se lá quando.

Referir que nem tudo foi negativo , os empregados excelentes atendentes e sempre prestáveis ,mas o proprietário dou nota negativa, pela sua arrogância e por uns terem direito a reservas e outros não terem direito, (nem quero pensar nas pessoas que estavam na fila para comer e a espera de mesa ver aquelas mesas com reserva). Os pães de alho que pedimos foi a supressa da noite , muito bons e muito saborosos, e verificou-se que a pessoa se dedicou e se empenhou na comida.

Well, we went there because of good review on Google maps but we didn't like this place at all. We ordered some starters we never got but we received also something more we haven't ordered and didn't want. Food was not bad but definitely didn't fit to description in menu (pizza)... spaghetti carbonara suppose to be very different than what they served. Sangria was excellent.
