LUHU Surf Camp — Hotel in Esposende

Luhu surf-school is right behind the dunes and just a minute walk from the beach. It’s situated at the outskirts of Apulia, a nice little city/village, so it’s easy to get everywhere by foot.

I took a beginners class/some hours with Hugo and I can highly recommend it. It’s really much easier to learn surfing with a teacher than on your own (which I tried before). In the beginning a teachers chooses the wave for you, tells you when to paddle and gives you a little push, so that you actually catch the wave. This way I got many more waves than ever before on my own, and personally I was quite happy with my progress. Of course, there is more to learn, and I guess Hugo and Luis will be just as good at it, as teaching beginner-level. What I also liked was the fact that it’s a beach break, no rocks underneath and many parts are shallow enough so that you can stand there (but Hugo will want you to paddle ;-) ).

Everybody I met at the school, was really nice and chilled. One day after surf school I had an accident (had nothing to do with surfing or Luhu) and Pedro and Hugo were really helpful and caring, without me asking them. We had a fantastic stay at the LUHU Surf Camp, the team was so friendly and welcoming, surf house and the surf school is are well equipped, clean and stylish, Luis and Hugo are such nice guys and really good surf teachers, we have been to another camp the week before in Ericeira and so we can say that the boys from the LUHU camp could teach us even better and helped us a lot to improve our skills.||What we especially liked was the family-like atmosphere (we had breakfast together) and the cozyness auf the small camp.||Extra: You get free, high quality photos of your surfing experience ;-)||If you plan to learn surfing or improve your existing skills and to have a chilled stay near Porto, LUHU Surf Camp should be your first choice!||Thanks a lot guys, we will definitely come back!||Your friends...

We didn't plan on staying all 4 days on one spot for surfing, but LUHU house was just too good to leave. The house is cool and cosy - spotless clean and like home in the same time. All the surrounding is nice to explore - its withing a short drive distance from 3 historical towns with the proper Portugal atmosphere and the town of Apulia itself offers some possibility for walks and enjoying the restaurants and bars. The beach and sand dunes are pretty good as well. Hugo and Luis are amazing hosts and great instructors of surfing - all 4 of us managed to stand up easily during the first lesson and after the third one I was already catching some of the breaking waves.
