Checking in time was from 6pm, which I had not noticed and was a potential problem when we arrived at 1.30pm.||We parked on the street around the square and after trying to figure out what to do next went to the tourist information across the road for help. The lady there tried to call the owner but without any luck advising us the gates normally open at 2pm. She was confident he'd be able to help us. ||We went for a coffee on the square, about 10m from the front door of the guest house.||At 2pm we went back to check on the gates to find the owner, who’d seen the bike, looking for us. He let us check in early giving us a choice of several rooms all of a similar size and layout. ||The Guest house is above a shop which caused no issues. The first and second floors are rooms with a communal area, with a full kitchen on the top floor. First impressions were not great as there were a lot of dirty pots left out on the worktops, this was however misleading as shortly after the house keeper, Isabel turned up and like something from a commercial within seconds everything was spotless.||The shower was a little snug for a fat lad like me and the footboard on the bed dug in as I tried to hang my feet of the edge of the bed. That said these were minor niggles and did nothing to spoil the great value and hospitality of this place.||||The Rooms are spacious, clean and offer a great value accommodation with helpful staff. My wife thought there was some noise from the square in the early hours but I heard nothing, we could have closed the windows and shutters if this had been a...
Read moreThe low prices should be an indicator that this ain't the Ritz. It is an old building now a "guesthouse". It is right on the main square, across from the cathedral, convenient to the downtown.||||Don't depend on your Google Maps to find the place. The app output didn't (in my case) square with the actual location. However, it is well marked. The entry is on the side.||||The owner is a fine guy, very hospitable. He made us feel welcome, and helped point out some nearby features, such as coffee house and restaurants.||||Rooms were like something at Hogwarts, with plenty of character. Beds were comfortable. Place was clean. The tiny shower enclosures made taking one an adventure. Easy to knock the temp control and get a quick HOT or COLD shock.||||The bar crowd down below were incredibly noisy - particularly the football louts with leather lungs. This kept up until very early morning. Later we ran into these idiots on the square, still shouting and being loutish. ||||For an overnight it was just fine. Very convenient. Would I spend any extended time there? Ummm,...
Read moreKeep in mind that you are not at a top tourist destination... and set your expectations correctly. I don't agree with some of the reviews here because of just that. ||We arrived very late, and the reception was already closed. We called the contact number and spoke with the owner - he arrived within 10 minutes to let us in and show us our room. He even switched us to a better room (ensuite). |The house is charming with tiled walls, thick wooden doors and floors, and a beautiful staircase leading up to the rooms. Its located right next to the main square and church with a great coffee house across the street. Even a bar down the alleyway (maybe 15 meters away). We didn't head up to the kitchen - so I have no opinion there. ||We spend 1 night... nearly froze our toes off but the room had heating and 5 blankets. We did open a bottle of wine to help ward off the cold... ||For 24 Euros, 2 people, we expected something almost awful. This place was a gem, and the owner extremely nice and trusting. We wish we had time to spend another...
