There was a lovely lady serving very basic breakfast and apologising for the freezing cold. This place is grossly overpriced at over €80 a night and should NOT be in business in the winter. For over €80 it should have been the best, but clearly, the owner does not care about guests. I had a terrible miserable freezing cold three days over Christmas. In hindsight, I should have gone elsewhere to somewhere with heating.

There was little preparation for me as a guest. I was presented with an odd shaped freezing cold space where the man failing to open the plastic curtains as it was in darkness .....just tore them half down, never returning to repair his damage. Absolutely no heating in breakfast room or any other guest rooms or stairways. I had to eat the simple breakfast in a hat and 6 layers it was so miserably cold. I had to ask for heating in my odd space when it should have been warm on arrival, not for me to have to wear all my 6 layers to keep warm the whole 3 days. The bizarre bedroom was little different with my thermometer showing 17 degrees even on the 3rd day as drafts blew through gaps in the fake timbered walls. No heating at all in the bathroom so the hairdryer had to be jammed on to make it habitable with the floors ice cold.

Most hideous was the massive plastic covered box that houses the wc etc. No thought had gone into integrating with a period building. Just how many people can we cram into a small space. The cheap plastic wood grain effect boarding appeared all over the building and looked totally out of place with the old floor boards on the walls. Absolutely no thought of aesthetics! A very bad...

Don't read any more. Look elsewhere!|I had the most miserable time ever and I have visited 8 countries staying in literally dozens of B&bs in the last year to compare.|There was no welcome into this converted terrace & the sleeping area was bizarre and vastly overpriced at £80 per person. For £80 the customer should get the best.|The room was not prepared. A blocked sink, freezing cold and no heating in the showroom. Unless you count the hairdryer which had to be used it was so cold.| The alterations were the worst you could imagine and totally out of keeping with the old building with cheap plastic cladding used as dividers.|There was absolutely no heating in the public areas so freezing cold everywhere. |No heating in the breakfast room even the woman there wore her outdoor clothes as I did being 6 layers and head covering it was so bitter.|The owners simply do not care about their guests.|Breakfast was in a word. Miserable. Hard cold toast. No cerals, no fruit, no cake, no rolls. no thought how to please their guests.|A bizarre place. They kept saying I was the only person cold but NO other guests were ever seen in 3 days! Stange place|The worst place and most depressing I have ever stayed in, not even a Happy...

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel/bed breakfast, the owner Zilda (Professora) and her assistants Carla and Ricardo are amazing, they have done an amazing job from top to bottom without any detail been overlooked. |It’s a place where you feel truly welcomed from their heart. |From the moment we got in(my sister and I) we we’re received with a smile making our stay one of the best of my life! |Professora made our vacation very special with her knowledge and passion for the region. The places we saw and amazing food we had thanks to her(she made all reservations for restaurant and visit to the winery. |The old building by the walls of the castle (Muralha) was completely restored/renovated with all the modern comfort. We stayed in room 202 with street view. The entire place is immaculate clean and beautiful. The breakfast outside in the top floor was amazing and felt like eating at friends houses with delicious local food.|As I said, I cannot say enough and could go on and on forever. Bottom line - I recommend Muralha Charm house without hesitation to anyone looking for a true Portuguese hospitality.|I can’t wait to be back in...

The owner, Zilda, was very friendly and an excellent host. Breakfast is very good! A lot of attention to detail and a very good decoration. Room are nice and quiet. The rooftop is impressive and has a great view of the city. We loved our stay and wished we’d stay more time. Hope to come back! We were very well treated!
