There was a lovely lady serving very basic breakfast and apologising for the freezing cold. This place is grossly overpriced at over €80 a night and should NOT be in business in the winter. For over €80 it should have been the best, but clearly, the owner does not care about guests. I had a terrible miserable freezing cold three days over Christmas. In hindsight, I should have gone elsewhere to somewhere with heating.
There was little preparation for me as a guest. I was presented with an odd shaped freezing cold space where the man failing to open the plastic curtains as it was in darkness .....just tore them half down, never returning to repair his damage. Absolutely no heating in breakfast room or any other guest rooms or stairways. I had to eat the simple breakfast in a hat and 6 layers it was so miserably cold. I had to ask for heating in my odd space when it should have been warm on arrival, not for me to have to wear all my 6 layers to keep warm the whole 3 days. The bizarre bedroom was little different with my thermometer showing 17 degrees even on the 3rd day as drafts blew through gaps in the fake timbered walls. No heating at all in the bathroom so the hairdryer had to be jammed on to make it habitable with the floors ice cold.
Most hideous was the massive plastic covered box that houses the wc etc. No thought had gone into integrating with a period building. Just how many people can we cram into a small space. The cheap plastic wood grain effect boarding appeared all over the building and looked totally out of place with the old floor boards on the walls. Absolutely no thought of aesthetics! A very bad...
